Hey there, is there any information on when the z87 boards are being released? I purchased the Intel Haswell chipset and want to install, I have been searching but can find a definite answer. Why is EVGA taking so long to have enthusiast boards for this chipset? Thanks,

No release date yet and Jacob said they have a component that isn't in full production yet so you may as well move on and get a different mobo.

What would you recommend for a replacement mobo? I need 2 USB 3.0s for hard drives. I also have 3 SSDs, and 3 SATA hard drives. I have a GTX 690, sound card, and plan on using two additional slots for cooling. I plan on overclocking as I will be using a corsair h100i.

Well I wasn't planning on doing my Z87 build until August, but I was really hoping these boards would be out and well reviewed by then...not just being released.

You'll need to get lucky to get a haswell that clocks 4.8-5.0 stable with a H100i.

But if you can't wait for whenever EVGA releases, take a look at ASUS ROG Maximus VI extreme, hero. Or you can wait a few weeks for the formula.

The Formula is making me want to upgrade...depends on the PCIe bandwidth assignment. Can't find any info on how it'll run.

you'll be lucky to get 4.5 on that cooling, unless you delid and pump a lot of volts or have a "golden" chip. Haswell doens't overclock as well as sandy/ivy from what I've seen, a lot of people are even struggling at 4.3GHz-4.4GHz. Although keep in mind that Haswell does have higher IPC, though not much. On average it's +10% to +15% over Sandy and probably around 5%ish over Ivy.

Hmmm, interesting to know, I have a sandy bridge overclocked to 4.7 and has been running this for two years now. I would suspect the Haswell will run better efficiency compared to my Sandy but I will need to tweak the volts and clocks.

Right now we are focused on the quality, so no exact ETA yet, but it will be sometime in July.

Does that mean the boards will future the Z87 C2 from the start?

It's been years since EVGA has had boards available on the release day of a new chipset. Last I can remember was X58, maybe P55.They lose so many sales because if this. Not sure why they can't get it together with their motherboards anymore. They are always late, and broken. If they can't do it right, why do  it at all? There has to be capable engineers they can hire. I miss the old days...sigh...

I have to agree. I like EVGA kit and have many EVGA components (EVGA Zealot you might say). I'm very much waiting for this MOBO and the X79 Dark. EVGA have lifted their game in terms of the BIOS GUI, but need to get these things out on time whilst being competitively engineered and priced. Maybe they need to buy out AsRock or someone similar to enhance their MOBO business. I must say somethings afoot with the reduced MOBO fleet...

A couple of reasons, but mainly is because as stated above we made the decision to spend more time fine tuning it and will ship with C2 chipset.

Thanks Jacob. No issue with the fine tuning and C2 as mentioned - all good. I would highly recommend getting samples out to the Youtube reviewers when appropriate as EVGA is in catch-up with other vendors in some respects.

As I recall X58 was late and was great. Don't really remember on any others accept X79 which was right on time and wasn't all that fine.
Edit: It was the 759 Classified that was late.

Yeah the X58 is a lot of fun and just works well. Admittedly I went X58 close to the end of production. Now having skipped a generation or two I'm thinking EVGA would get the Z87 right.

That is best possible news for people who wait Z87 and Haswell what Jacob say, really no reason to hurry. All manufacturer and ASUS and GIGABYTE will launch immediately revision of motherboards.

If they say revision of chipset and revision of Haswell why is so hard to wait that. I pass OK with IB immediately after launch but now is better to wait. Intel didn't plan revision of IB, now they say YES.

I think that is best possible option if EVGA decide to launch with new revision. I would be happy to the sky and wait that.
C2 revision in past give sometimes 10C less temps and 200MHz better OC plus chipset better.

It seems EVGA is delaying everything nowadays; videocards, motherboards... :(

And when something does finally gets released, than it still takes months before it's available (at least in Europe by their "where to buy"-vendors).

Disappointing to say the least...

This is because the C2 revision on the Z87 chipset is suppose to be released mid July.  With that in mind, EVGA motherboards should be released shortly after.  Waiting for the stepping on the chipset is a good thing.  Also, EVGA's does release several video cards on the date Nvidia announces.  Most of the time the cards you have to wait for is non reference versions.
