This does sound like a psu/overheating issue. Inside the motherboard bios under pc health status monitor the +12v reading for a few minutes to see if it fluctuates more than .05. If it does fluctuate more than .05 your psu may have an issue.

Yes, you can still rma the psu even if you didn't register it.

The EVGA 550W Gold series (G2/GS) has an ECO Mode switch that's on the inside where the modular cables connect..There have been some reports here and there of some units failing when ECO Mode is enabled..You could try turning ECO Mode OFF to confirm if that is your issue..ON is the default position..If it works when ECO Mode is disabled, the unit is no good..If it don't matter either way, then I'd say it's time to contact EVGA in your region to RMA the unit..You could always try the XCLIO 650W out of your other box (or another PSU if you have one) and see if it works okay if it's not much hassle, which is what I would do.

Contact EVGA Support and they'll get it all straightened out for you and answer any questions you have..But I really would put the XCLIO 650W in and see if it works okay as I suggested above.

I dont feel like taking my computer apart now since im 100% sure that its the psu that has the problem..i could not submit a ticket because it requires me to register the product but i cant register it cos the part/serial number were missing from the box cos i cut it of to get my rebate. I emailed evga about it and hope to ge response soon.
