Hey guys new to the forums yet. I am encountering a problem with my card; it happens every so often in which my screen freezes while gaming and there is a sound loop, requiring me to to do a hard reset now I had my cpu and gpu overclocked I returned them all to stock settings and it still freezes forcing me to do a manual hard reset. No I am not sure if its the hardware (GPU) or Software (Drivers) which are causing the problem I just wanted all of your input to see if you guys can help me out thanks so much guys and gals.
CPU: 2700K 3.9ghz turbo (was overclocked to 4.2ghz turbo)
RAM: G SKILL 1300MHZ 8GB
PSU: Corsair TX 750 WATTS
Driver Version (Nvidia): 358.91
Ran Memory test on RAM and it was fine no errors, the card only crashes in games but is fine when just doing regular browsing.

What is the part number of your video card? Does this happen in all games? Does the issue occur when running unigine heaven 4.0 @ max settings?

it happens in BF4, BF3, Battlefront and rarely in fallout 4 but regular browsing it does not happen.

Please run the card in debug mode and let me know if you're still receiving the freeze. How to run your gpu in debug mode... #1 Open nvidia control panel, select help, enable debug mode.  If you can't enable debug mode try underclocking the card with msi afterburner. Set core clock (MHz) to -105 or as far negative as you can set it. Set memory clock (mhz) to -105. Click apply (check mark button) to apply the changes. Leave afterburner open while retesting the system.

What are your gpu temps with a full load, after gaming for a bit in FC4 etc..., and your idle temps before you open a game etc... When did you do the update to the newest NVidia driver and did you do a clean install? Did you install everything listed like GeForce Experience, 3d drivers, hd audio etc... ? did the crashing start right, or soon after, this driver update?

Next thing I would check would be the ram/psu... RAM Testing: Run Memtest86+ v5.01 for a few passes to rule out faulty RAM. http://www.memtest.org/download/5.01/memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer.zip You will need a USB flash drive to install memtest onto. Test each stick of RAM individually. PSU Testing: http://www.jonnyguru.com/...;ndfaq_id=28 (You will need a Digital Multimeter for testing your PSU. You want all three rails to be within ATX spec, ATX Specification: 12V: 11.40 to 12.60, 5V: 4.75 to 5.25, 3V: 3.135 to 3.465. If any of your rails hit the minimum spec I would replace the PSU with a new one.) Back probing: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-protection-calculate-consumption,3066-6.html (Read Measuring Voltage) HOW TO: Properly load your system when checking PSU voltages. #1 Download & Install Prime95 #2 Download & Install Unigine Heaven 4.0. #3 Open both Prime95 & Heaven 4.0 Run Small FFT test for Prime95. Run Heaven 4.0 @ max settings. Run both of these tests at the same time while checking voltages.

full load temps are : 60C
I do not have geforce experience installed. I did do a clean install of the drivers to a new one and the crashes started happening more often when I downloaded the latest driver.
RAM = fine ran memtest all normal.

Have you tried running both pci-e slots in GEN2 mode? If not, give it a try to see if it helps stop the problem.

could it be the PSU failing or the maybe its a bad card. I got the RMA going with msi right now but I highly doubt its the card but no reason for me to try.

I had this same probably and luckily using ddu fixed that issue. It was happening a lot during FO4 and BO3 game play.

ok popped in my old gtx 680 superclocked never crashed, msi card has been sent to rma department.
