gtx 1080 ftw green dots on screen while afk

Hey guys I have a gtx 1080 ftw edition and when I went afk I came back and my screen was doing this. When I clicked on it everything is fine. I game fine. As I am posting this, I am afk from the game again and it's doing it again. The card is set on default, never tried to get more out of the card or even try a fan curve. Could you possibly tell me what happening. Thank you.
Also it only happens in the game.  Driver is up to date as well.

    I recommend reinstalling the latest drivers, you can find them HERE. When you open up the installer select the option for "Custom Installation". On the following page you will see a check box that reads "Perform a Clean Installation", check that box. Proceed with the remainder of the installation how you normally would.
     
    If that doesn't work then download Display Driver Uninstaller and run the "Clean and Restart" option. After it finishes run the clean installation as described above. Let us know what happens.

    Try running the card in debug mode to see if it helps get rid of the green dots. More info about debug mode (#3) can be found here.

    could be an artefact, are you overclocking anything? but yeah, run at stock speeds and see if that helps.
     
    but I also would reseat the card, and use DDU to remove the drivers and reinstall. If that still happens, reinstall the game, and check if anything else has problems, (heaven benchmark, and leave it running for a bit)

    if the problem continues, you have a problem with the gcard.

    Thanks for the info guys will check. No overclock at all. I haven't touched anything since I have received the card. Everything stock.

    If DDU and Debug mode are not able to stop the Green Dots, then you will want to register the card at EVGA.com > Support > Product Registration and reach out to us directly at Support@EVGA.com or on the phones at 888-881-3842

    So far everything is going well. Been afk multiple times and no green dots anywhere I did a clean install. Will keep posted if anything else occurs. Thanks for being awesome.

    I get similar display corruption on a few games. Starting to regret another Nvidia card and EVGA.
