Card has never been overvolted and never been overclocked for any long periods of time. (frankly the thing ran to hot to ever overclock it). The other week while playing Battlefield 3 it kept crashing out to desktop then tonight it semi hardlocked, computer was unresponsive yet I could still talk in Bf3's voice chat. When I rebooted from said hardlock Windows will not see both gpus ive tried reinstalling drivers taking the card in and out of my pc etc. Tommorow i can try it in my old pc to see if its detected there.

Sli worked for about 3 hours of Diablo 3 this afternoon.  So I went to put the HAF-X gpu shroud and side panel back on the case. When I turned back on the PC second gpu gone again. Put it in my older computer didnt dectect the second gpu there either. So I stole the 280gtx out of it for now.

    Anyone got a freaking clue???

Both systems are running updated versions of windows 7. Ive taken the card apart to make sure the internal sli bridge wasnt damaged or loose. I replaced the Thermal Compound while i was there since your factory tim looked like dried cake iceing

Seems like one of the GPU's is dead. If you have a warranty on it still then I would suggest RMA'ing it and EVGA will give you a card with equal performance. If you're out of warranty you may want to consider a new video card or "baking" the card to make it last a bit longer

Yup one of my 295 Red's did that.

Since it's -AR, you should have lifetime. So RMA would be great, BUT sadly obviously you won't get a 295 Red in return...

Did you register it when you purchased it (Or atleast within 30 days of purchase)? If so, then you don't need a receipt.
If you registered it, you should have the card under your EVGA account, on your "My Products" page.

Looks like its on to evga tech support I go.

What I dont get is the core that isnt showing up is the top card, the one that actually has the pci express connector on it the reason i say this is that the nv control panel isnt showing the hdmi . What to me doesnt make sense is that there is connectivity between the two cards as the DVI connectors are on the bottom card and the pci express is on the top

You may want to give this a read
    http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1613434

What you most likely are experiencing is what I had with both cards after cleaning them, it could be that your Internal SLI Ribbon Cables have become loose, or never was attached properly, or jolted loose as you flipped the card halves to the HSF

Really you have to be very gentle when replacing the card halves with the Internal SLI Ribbon Cables connected to the HSF. One wrong move and you can do it all over again

It's that I know this, because I had to do my two cards twice, but hey practice does make perfect

Sadly not the issue i rebuilt the card about 5-10 times today trying the card with various configurations of the ribbon cables, my card will only post in one configuartion of the cables which is the way i had it. I went out and bought some CRC cleaner aswell and completly cleaned everything. Sadly judging by the way she died in the middle of a game i really think the onboard sli chip is dead.

I certainly would bake both of the PCB's like this and hope for the best..It's not really uncommon for solder to crack somewhere on a PCB and cause issues..If solder cracking is the problem, baking will reflow it and hopefully all will be well..If you bake, do it with the GPU side up, not down..Also, I'd let them bake for 15 minutes, I've had mixed results with only 10 minutes..Good luck!

It is not a rebuild issue... if you have it built correctly the green light will be on...

I have had this problem many times...
the blue light wont turn on right?
it only recognizes the hdmi because that is the card to the pcie.

Just keep reseating it/ clearing the cmos/ recycling the pc until it works.

I think it is a BIOS glitch.
Sometimes i would set it as my second card and reflash the bios.
Unfortunately you can only flash the one card. but once it recognizes it, flash the other with a the second bios.

It is not the physical build so no need taking it apart... you will only risk breaking it.

Blue and green lights are on I very much could see this as a card bios glitch as the dvi card (the slave card) is the one that windows actually detects windows doesn't detect the hdmi card which is the one with the pci express connector.

That being said I've been eying up a nice 680gtx or 670gtx anyway but still would have liked to have this card just because it was rare and pretty. Was already mad when the backplate slipped off my desk while rebuilding it last time and scratched it :(

Anyone have the bios for the hynix memory 295 gtx red edition handy

I doubt it's a BIOS issue, possible I suppose, but you can search TechPowerUp or MVKTech.net for one, or PM a forum moderator or contact EVGA support to send you one.
