I originally sent my e760 in to have the Turbo mod completed. Evga sent me a new board. Upon trying this new board it would power on fans spin then shut off. I resent that board in and got another one problem is this ones doing the same thing. Had no issues with original board. I'm going to swap cpus to see if that's the issue but if it still does this I'm lost as everything was fine. I don't want to have to email another board and waste evgas time or mine. What's the most common cause for this?

Does it start up at all? Or it just goes through the same cycle of start up, shutdown, start up, shutdown.

Make sure you are giving it enough time, the first post on a new board should shut down after it detects a change from what it was set up as during manufacturing, it may take up to a minute or two, for it to read the new settings, purge the old settings , write the new settings and then reboot. The first time you power up, should take longer than any other boot. I usually put it, in power up, and then go get a coffee of beer, come back sometime latter and see what is on the screen.

It never fully POSTS, fans spin for a few seconds, codes go through on the board and it restarts. here is a video of what it does <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2WAjOFCudwg?hl=en&fs=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> if that doesn't work here is a link youtube. com/watch?v=2WAjOFCudwg be sure to remove the space between .com

either your psu is shot, or something is pulling a leg out of specification, or the CPU is not regestering the voltage presant. Pull as much as possable, see if it boots minimum configuration. if so add componants one at a time until it fails again. if not consider pulling it from the case and booting on a non conductive surface. EVGA may have additional recomendations 1-888-881-EVGA (3842) disregard the error codes, your not on long enough for them to be of any use.

Circaflex if i pull the CPU will the board still boot but just say no cpu installed? I don't know, I've never tried that. This is exactly what two EVGA boards I tested a dead cpu in did.

I tried with only gpu having extra power, left all HDDs and cd rome off still no boot. Case is an acrylic board with rubber standoffs.

Circaflex Did i do any harm turning it on without a CPU? No, ppls have done this in the past when they were too impatient to wait for the CPU; and panicked when it acted like that. Installed CPU and all was fine. It does sound like a bad CPU, but impossible to tell for sure. GL.

So just an update, i tried a known working 920 does same thing, tried with a processor i purchased today same thing. Guessing another board? i hope evga pays for shipping this time, this sucks because the board i sent out originally for the turbo mod was great, first board back does this and so does the second. I even tried with a different known working PSU same issue :(

do you guys believe this is a board issue? Without a CPU it stays on but obviously nothing happens, with a CPU on/of cycle. Im buying another PSU just to test but i know this one is current and working

Which memory slots are you using? You should have the memory in the red slots for the first 3 sticks.

i have 3 sticks in the black slots, ill give that a try here is my run down that i sent evga as i submitted another rma ticket I tried isolating a short issue by moving to an acrylic case, and even using the motherboard boxI purchased a new power supply to ensure it was not a power issueI purchased a different i7, 920 processor to test and ensure it was not a CPU issueI purchased new corsair memory and same thingI tried with 1 5870 and even with a 8800gt from a working computer still not working

The manual clearly says: so if you are using the black slots it's your mistake.

It's a valuable lesson to learn, makes you more experienced and knowledgeable, it only makes you better for next time. We all need a humbling lesson every once in a while, it even happens to me - more often than I would like! Not wasted time, happy to have helped you. Now if I didn't help, then that would be wasted time.

Circaflex i feel like a total noob, system boots fine now :( sorry for wasting anyones time, especially evga's Just dawned on me yesterday about the memory slots. I sold a board to a member here a couple months ago and he sent it back to me saying it wouldn't boot, doing the power cycle like your vid. I got the motherboard back and noticed he was using the wrong memory slots as he left the tabs open on them. Sorry about that. I totally forgot about that deal, wish I would have thought about it sooner. Glad you're up and running now.
