If you cheat LinX Gflops you only cheat yourself, IMO, 'cause nobody cares how much Gflops you get (except Kram). I.e. there is no rational reason to cheat it. It is merely an indicator of how efficient your CPU and RAM are. Indicators can be used to an advantage, and just like any other indicator can be misused, cheated, etc. Just bc they can be cheated don't mean they are worthless. Gas gauges in automobiles can be wrong. It doesn't mean I should not pay attention to it. That reasoning is ludicrous, kitfit1.

@kitfit1: So why are you all "don't pay attention to Gflops?" Were yours low in your OC? Perhaps you should test your OC again, we would be happy to help you adjust your OC settings so that you get better Gflops. Theoretically speaking, it would be more stable then too. Are you afraid someone has hacked into your computer and hacked your LinX Gflops (we all live to do that  )? Maybe you can help us understand what you are getting at here, 'cause I don't see the point. It's as if you are saying "don't trust your gas gauge bc somebody may have tampered with it." It's not like we are in an official competition for Gflops.

HW, Completely agree with you: The Gflops are not meaningless. They vary somewhat but if you run them consistently, they can be a good indicator. Kind of like th SuperPi score which has gotten so much attention.

Kitfit1 was on the top of the list for Gflops though... Until this last poster's result gets added to the list beats him.

**EDIT**
Odd.... it idnt quote....weird....
so, @ V1ral, you asked: hweed. how can we get higher gflops?does gflops even pertain to any significance in performance, it seems ive reafhed 56.x gflop fap and.that was with my 4.35 trial overclock.anyways what should i keep for a 24/7 overclock?

My 2 cents are below
**EDIT**

From my recent testing, and a HUGE learning curve, I found memory speed.  I was having trouble stabalizing my OC, i was55.25 peak gflops at 2:8 1600, when I dropped 2:6 and uncore with it to maintain the ratio, I got 51, but much better temps and passes my testing.

Im FAR from top of the foodchain in OCing, infact JUUUST getting back into it after a long time, but that was my experience.

Sidce note, along the same lines, but a different test.  When I first hit 4, I tried to get my voltages lower, mainly VCore, and I was checkng with Super Pi to see if I had performance differences (reruning LinX as well to ensure stab ility) and I found at a certain pint, that my time went up a fair amount, and I was able to reproduce it.  Going from near 1.4 back down to 1.26625, my SuperPi score went up from 9:49 to 10:38.  That is a noticable change in performance, percentage wise.  Looks like it worked, but didnt have enough fuel to run right.

Second edit:
I reran SuperPi, with ram at 2:6 1200 instead of 2:8 1600 and my time wasover 11 seconds now, so memory speed will play a role in these numbers.

CPuz fluctuated... occasionaly during the run it would say 4202 and sometimes 4198, I do not see how 200X21 equals anything but 4200.  It posts saying exactly 4.2, and once under load realtemp states 4.2 as well.

Not true. Look at the time, and in the prev he has the textpad in the foreground, and in the last he has RealTemp in the foreground. Besides, when you round 4.1988 you get 4.2. It's only a 0.2MHz difference, way to get picky. I think you should allow it Kram. But that's just my opinion, it's your thread.

Yes it is true. Take another look at his LinX, everything is exactly the same in both screenshots. Open both pics and flip back and forth and you will see. Also another issue I have with his first submision is cpu-z and real temp do not match on clock speeds. CPU-z shows 4198 Mhz while Real Temp shows 3400 Mhz.

We do not round off the numbers for this. We have been through this before. Also the bios is not accurate on your clock speed. What you see with cpu-z is accurate. Picky? No, you must achieve 4.2Ghz in the cpu-z screenshot.

We do not round off the numbers for this. We have been through this before. Also the bios is not accurate on your clock speed. What you see with cpu-z is accurate. Picky? No, you must achieve 4.2Ghz in the cpu-z screenshot.

Oh, yeah, it says 200x17, that would mean speedstep. Prob is, CPU-Z should match. Yes, I agree with you now Kram. But for this other reason. And I didn't know about any previous discussions on rounding. OK.

Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB.
See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

MrHaViK
Core i7 950 Batch #: 3052A257
CPU clocked at: 4210MHz
Voltage: 1.45V With Vdroop
Idle temps: 39, 34, 38, 34
Load temps: 72, 69, 71, 66
GFlop peak: 51.0652 GFlops

So, i've been trying for months to get stable at 4.2 with no luck. got my evbot in today, first time OCing with it and it's a go.

Side note- before someone calls me out for it, the clock speed displayed in realtemp shows 3.9ghz, which is what i boot up with. No matter what i've tried i can't get it to refresh with the evbot settings. I don't know if this disqualifies my entry, i just can't get through linx with the same OC settings in the bios.

i don't see a single person in that list with an i7 940...  as soon as i hit my 350,000 folding points, i'll take a run at being the first on the list with a 940.

Looks good to me MrHaViK. welcome to the club.

I also had a pm discussion with anonymousone about his stability submissions. He had a very good explanation on what occurred. I'm now inclined to pass his submission, so

anonymousone, welcome to the club.

Time for an update. Finally got a chip that isn't a voltage hog.
