LOL..Sorry about that. Yeah I had 4.5 easy, but was going for the top spot. I spent hours trying to stabilize it. It's not easy to pass LinX at a BLCK of 218

Edit: Although it could be attributed to the fact that I'm using an SLI3 board. Maybe if I still had my classy I could have gotten it easier.

Way to go, v1ral.  Looks like mem quality has more influence on your OC than I thought.

PS I am currently trying re-OC W/12GB, and I have found out it takes a lot more VDIMM. Currently mine is set at 1.75 (spec is 1.6, and my board undervolts VDIMM by about 0.05). It also raises the Vreg temp a little. My Gflops are already higher at 4.2 than I got previously at 4.35GHz!

NOTE TO OCers: When LinX fails, no BSOD, try increase VDIMM - especially when you are approaching, or above your mem speed rating.

Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB.
See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve.

hweed. how can we get higher gflops?does gflops even pertain to any significance in performance, it seems ive reafhed 56.x gflop fap and.that was with my 4.35 trial overclock.anyways what should i keep for a 24/7 overclock?

First and foromost, don't take ANY acount of what ANYONE tells you about Gflofs. It's a total red hering and really accounts for not a lot in the real world. What really matters is your clock speed. There are a lot of Anal tossers on this forum that think Gflops mean everything, just push them aside and get your basic clock above thiers................then see how much they really care about Gflops.

I don't know if I would agree with Kitfit. The Gflops are backcalculated from by LinX from the time it took for the LinX loop to complete. They are a relevant benchmark of how fast your CPU runs. What I have observed is that the Gflop is affected by the programs you run in the background. Running Windows in diagnostic mode for example will get you slightly higher Gflops because other programs (mostly the antivirus actually) is not taking any CPU time. The Bloomfield seem to have very consistent Gflop scaling overall unlike the gulftown. This is because many downclock the uncore which consist of the IMC and the L3 cache on the CPU. So in reality the high core clock is somewhat dragged down by the slower memory and and cache.
A CPU at 4.6GHz core with 3GHz uncore will actually be slower than a 4.4GHz core with 4GHz uncore for example. The core clock speed is not everything. It is the most important but not the only thing that matters. Of course the uncore clock is set using a multiple of the CPU clock too: 2X minimum for the Bloomfield and 1.5X minimum for the Gulftown so how fast your memory is might affect the result too.

By the way, I have found both the Bloomfield and Gulftown to be limited at about 4GHz uncore when you limit your VTT to 1.4V.

Of course they are a benchmark of "benchmark of how fast your CPU runs". But you know as well as i know that it is prefectly cheatable to UP a Gfop count in any Linx run. It's not rocket science, and can be done at an even lower clockspeed than my top score run. I say that because i've done it myself.

True and there is a lack of consistency depending on how to run it.
