So as the title of the thread says, I can't SLI with the X58 MICRO SLI board. Everytime I add my second card, it never boots to windows it just loops back to bios. I thought it was software issue so i reformatted and its the same process. The board has all the most up to date bios, chipset, etc. I havent tried removing cmos battery, but I wouldn't think that would do it. The cards are good because I put them in my other system in SLI just fine. Power Supply is perfectly fine as its a 850watt. It works and boots to windows with 1 card, just not 2.

Now, not sure if this could be a legacy issue with old motherboards like this, but the cards are different. One is a GTX970 and the other is a GTS970 SC, but the SC should be clocking down to the normal GTX970 like it does in my other machine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Read this FAQ ID # 59534 - you may have an issue with your Cards not working together

There are three versions of the GTX 970: A blower-style cooler with a short circuit board, an ACX cooler with a full size circuit board, and an updated version of the GTX 970, SSC, and FTW models. The three styles of GTX 970s will not function in SLI together. See the chart below to see which cards will function together in SLI. Cards in the same column will function in SLI together. A card from one column will not work in SLI with a card from another column.

(go to link for chart, it does not copy and keep format)

If your cards are listed as SLI compatible on the FAQ above ......

First install both cards without the SLI bridge --- does your PC Boot into Windows ?

Part number for your MB ?

Also, SLI will not work if one of the PCIE slot is at 4X

My X58 MSI Xpower - i7-950 has the ability to run my 980 SC in SLI

Try increasing the memory low gap in the bios. This might fix the issues if the cards are compatible on the FAQ.

Windows doesn't boot to windows with sli bridge off and both cards installed. Both cards are in same column from previous post
part number: 121-BL-E756
Both PCIE slots are x16 2.0
If I place a card in either PCIE x16 it does boot up, just not when both are in at same time

So I figured out where this was in the Bios, changed it from auto to 3G and it worked. it booted. Can you tell me what this setting does? From what I read it should = the sum of the ram on the video cards? if so 2 970s would have 8gb? but i set it to 3G?

Congrats, glad you got it working

SLI RAM is not cumulative / you do not Add the RAM from GPU card 1 to GPU card 2

So if GPU 1 has 4GB and GPU 2 has 4GB ------ the SLI set still only has 4GB
