Mine is an X79 classified. It is said that disabling the HPET (High Precision Event Timer) in BIOS can reduce display stuttering. I went to BIOS but didn't find any HPET setting. I also read X79 Dark's BIOS manual, still nothing about HPET.
How to find it, or has it never existed in X79 BIOS?

It may not exist, in some BIOS' it does not and is hidden/enabled by default..If it does exist, it would most likely be in the BIOS Advanced Settings options in the Chipset/PCH settings.

If it does not exist, you can run Command Prompt as administrator..Then copy/paste in the following command line, then press Enter (and confirmation should be displayed), close Command Prompt then reboot to disable HPET in the OS: bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock

To enable HPET, use: bcdedit /set useplatformclock true

Even after disabling it in the BIOS, if the option exists, you should still disable it in the OS..Disabling it in the OS would override the BIOS setting anyway.

To confirm that it remains disabled after reboot, run bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock again and if you get the "An error occurred" blah blah "Element not found" message, then it's disabled.

There's tons of articles about it if you search..Like here.

HPET is disabled by default on windows 7/10. If the bios setting is set to disabled TSC+LAPICs is used by default. If you run the bcdedit /set useplatformclock true command with the bios setting set to disabled only LAPICs will be used. LAPICs is better than TSM+LAPICs, LAPICs isn't as good as HPET. If HPET is enabled inside the bios TSM+HPET will be used by default if useplatformclock is set to false. To use only HPET without TSM the bios setting needs to be enabled + bcdedit /set useplatformclock needs to be set to true. To disable HPET completely the bios setting must be set to disabled + bcdedit /set useplatformclock needs to be set to false.

Thanks for your instructions, now I've disabled it in the OS, Wintimertester shows 3.2blabla MHZ. No difference observed, perhaps becuz it's already smooth. btw I play Overwatch.
