So long as you do what I did with the fans, the 800D has quite a bit better air cooling than is widely recognized...not THE BEST but there is no perfect case right now.
Having an H70 helps the temps tremendously, also so that a heatsink isn't spilling hot air inside the case.
I've got two Antec TriCool 120mm handling the push/pull intake on my H70's rad, with Cooler Master 120s, three blue and two red, on the top and bottom, respectively.

Hmmm, so you're saying the 800D can do good air cooling?  I know there are lots of exhaust options but it doesn't look like from reviews that they are too happy about it's intake capability.

I have no heat issues, and I'm running two GTX 580s and a 4.6GHz overclock on my processor.
With the upgrade kits Corsair came out with to give the Obsidian series front panel USB 3.0 and the hot swap bays 6Gb/s capability, this case will be relevant for awhile

Huh, maybe I misunderstood, I thought you were running watercooling, no? Maybe it's enough for my setup anyway though.  It's hard to tell because my current case is so old there's no way to compare it to reviews.  I'd be all air cooled though, and hoping to push my cpu to 3.8 or so along with the 560 which partially vents into the case (I think that may be the big deciding factor on cases) and with a new case, my GTX260 FTW for folding/physx.  My cpu heatsink can definitely handle the OC's, it's the cases's ability to get rid of the heat that is my current problem.

+1, HAF-X practically has the best stock airflow, and you don't need to change anything really

I've been seriously tempted but I don't think I'll be able to fit everything in it.  If I put my 260 in the 4x slot for folding, that means my Halo soundcard has to move all the way to the end in slot 7 which is right next to the CD drives and apparently is a clearance issue on that case.  If I leave the soundcard where it is, then I have to put the 260 in the other 16x slot, which is slot 6, and again because it's a double wide card I'm up against the CD drive.  I thought about the raven, but cooling is not as good unless I get the E model with the new fans which apparently have problems breaking, and the E model goes from 8 PCI slots of room to the FT02's internal design so I'm back to the same problem.   I think the original Raven would work space-wise, but I may have to buy some right angle SATA cables and extenders, and at that point I just ate up the difference in price between it and something like the HAF-X.

Lol well now I'm tempted by the CM 690 after all.  I didn't think of it before but I decided to look at the specs on the website and see the following....

CPU cooler height:177.0mm

Which is 17 more than the D14 needs, and so theoretically if I needed to add a fan over it, I could find an nn x 15mm fan for the top spot on the side panel.  Sigh, too many choices lol.  WTB HAF-X with 690 styling.

Anyone tried out the NZXT Phantom?  I'm seeing some good things about it and am starting to be pretty interested in it.  Bit-tech was showing some pretty decent performance on it, up there with the HAF-X and other high-flow cases.  Only downside is I can't get it locally.

Well, I got lucky enough to see the NZXT case in one of the local Fry's stores, they just had a white one on display but none in stock.  I think it was pretty nice but I ended up going for the HAF-X in the end.  More usable airflow options.......I can't use the side 200mm on the Phantom because of my NH-D14......and the X has more PCI slot, hot swap bays, and USB 3.0 which might all be useful down the road not to mention better water cooling options at least as far as internal radiators if I ever decide to go that route.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions, and thanks for putting up with my spamming my own thread lol.

running an 800D as well with SLI 580's with stock intel i7 960
if setup properly it can exhaust heat very well, atleast mine does
it's greatest weakness is intake which can be modified to suit that but I find it's best designed for exhaust

If you check the specs , you will see that the Thermaltake Armor+ VH6000 - outclasses them all , even the Antec 1200 case.  With it's huge X style side window and 230mm LED fan , and the removable motherboard tray - none of them can compete with this case for $200+.

The quality is in this case , all the way from the paint to the raised base construction.  The Armor+ makes a HAF X look like it belongs back in the recycle bin.  While the Armor+ can accomadate 10 PCI slots , and even an SR-2 mobo easily.  The Armor+ even has the quality stainless steel type springs on the sides and all of the PCI slots.  Up to (14) drives can be installed in the Armor+.

The best mid tower by far is the storm sniper.Even the new corsair 600T is a copy of it.

ROFL well, while I can appreciate the styling......the price is a "bit" higher than I was after.  The real problem is A I can't see it having great air cooling, and B I said it had to fit the system in my sig and I REALLY don't see an NH-D14 fitting in that.

What are the sizing dimensions of the NH-D14? Thermaltake gives exact maximum size specs. Also, these cases can be found for south of 500 now. The $800 price you see is the original MSRP.

I'd say the HAF-X still is king of air cooling for full towers. Especially if you buy extra fans for it. The 800D is also top notch, but the price + new fans is going to be more expensive than getting a HAF-X plus its additional fans.

For mid tower, I'd say storm sniper or cm 690 II. The sniper has cool stuff with it while the 690 is good bang for the buck. Cant say much about the corsair mid towers, but its probably good too but expensive.

As for the level 10, it definitely looks good on paper, but to me its too expensive and doesnt fit a lot of nice hardware enthusiasts really use. I dont think it even fits anything bigger than a standard atx. A guy from the local forums sold his for half the price bec it wont fit his mobo. Im guessing thats an extended atx mobo (more likely since xl-atx mobos arent really popular here).

For a full go with either the HAF-X, Lian-Li PC-A77F or Thermaltake Armor + (w/extra fans), for a mid the CM Sniper, Corsair 600T/650D & Lian-Li PC-P50/50WB (w/extra fans).

antech 1200, more fans then u can shake a stick at!  the plus for me is the 2 120mm fans in the back of the case and 3 in front for a great push pull effect !!!!!!

For air cooling?

I almost tested all the cases you suggested with the exception of the FT02. In terms of quality and airflow it is best. I have been swapping cases every other month (Antec, Cooler master, Corsair) until I found this one. I agree with the reviewer there, there has not been any new case since that has given me the "case envy bug".
It has 3 140mm fans pulling air from outside the case blowing straight on the the graphic cards without any restriction and without uglyfying it with a side fan. It gives you space to put an E-ATX board if needed and fits the longest GPU.
Lian Li quality, you can't go wrong. It is the best build quality you can find and it is all Aluminum. Another plus for air cooling.

My vote is for the FT02, and now if you look you can find it with the AP fans, mine does not have them and it is extremely good at keeping things cool, plus it has filters on the bottom for all three fans. As far as looks go it has them all beat in my opinion. There is not another case out there that looks better or is built better than the FT02, if you can make your system fit in it get one you will not regret it.

Mid Tower: Silverstone Raven RV02, Silverstone Raven RV03, Silverstone Fortress FT02

Full Tower: Silverstone Temjin TJ11, Cooler Master HAF-X, Cooler Master HAF 932

If you want the RV03 it's on amazon for $140 right now, free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Extended-90-Degree-Motherboard-RV03B-W/dp/tech-data/B004X19B02

The Silverstone Raven RV02 and RV03 are both full tower. Only the RV03 supports E-ATX though.

And also the RV02B-EW, as well as the RV03, have the new Air Penetrator fans while the RV02-BW does not.

Unless you are doing water cooling I would choose the RV03 since it's layout makes much more sense. You can if you want though add a 360mm rad on the bottom since the bottom supports 120mm fans. And also possibly a 120mm rad on the top exhaust fan, and maybe 2 120mm rads on the front, but I'm not sure how that would work.

The heat from the graphics card does not go to the cpu like in traditional cases. And also if you want to you can add 4 fans next to the cpu, 2 inside the case, and 2 on the front, but if you install all of them you can only use one 5.25" drive.

If you put a fan on the back of the case you can't use 4 graphics cards, only 3.

With the RV03 you can't have a PSU longer than 180mm.

EDIT: You are also forced to cable manage all cables through the back of the case so everything looks nice and clean.
