Straight out of the box, which full or mid tower case offers best air cooling right now?  Last time I was looking it seemed like HAF-932 and/or soon to be released at the time HAF-X was the best.  I think I'd prefer a full tower but am open to a mid if it's roomy and has good cooling.  The system in my sig would be going in there, plus a GTX260 for a physx/extra folding card.  I don't necessarily care about filters/dust/etc. since I know how to clean the dust out ever few months anyway.  I've had my Lian-Li forever and really don't feel like trying to mod it to current air cooling standards anyway so it's time for a change.

The Haf 932 full tower has excellent air flow, and you can get one at a good price. The Haf X is the improved version I believe.

+1, HAF-X practically has the best stock airflow, and you don't need to change anything really

Thanks guys.  Hmm I thought I'd seen the 932 for only around $100, must have been a sale or something.  Only $30 difference on Newegg right now though, might as well get the X it looks like.

Huh, I just noticed there's actually a new version of the 932 that has a black interior and USB 3.0 capability.  Anyone know how this compares to the X?  Basically it would cost the same for both since the 932 "advanced" is 159 and has a $20 shipping fee on Newegg and the X is 189 with free shipping and a $10 rebate.

Oh this is "bad", just checked and the local Fry's stores have both in stock, for the same price as Newegg.  I'd pay CA tax either way, but I'd save on potential shipping. Hmmmm, at least I can go look at both and see hehe.

Yea I love the CA tax on Newegg also, sadly Fry's and Micro Center are too far from me lol

I will either find a way, or make one.

For mid tower I say the CM CM690 II Advanced, it has probably the best performance, and the best value for the money

Huh, nice case after looking at some reviews.  The "dock" for a standard HD is pretty cool.  I wonder how the cooling compares between a HAF-922 (932's mid-tower brother) and the 690 II.  The rear motherboard fan mount is an interesting concept for sure.

So I looked at the HAF 932 advanced, 922, X, and the CM 690 advanced at Frys today.  Out of those I'm leaning towards the X.  Of course now I found out about the Silverstone FT02 which is of course $60 more than the X and I'd have to pay shipping, but wow, better cpu cooling that the HAF series by like 5C on some bit-tech charts I saw.  I'm thinking that may not be worth $60 though, but the styling is really nice.

EDIT:  Oh wow, just checked and amazon has the FT02 for 239 instead of 249 on newegg, and free shipping, I also think I don't pay tax on amazon.

If it were between any of those full towers that you linked and a CM 690 II Advanced, go with one of the full towers. As much as I love my 690 II, it's just beginning to get a little crowded for me! I'd love to expand up to something with more space and bigger water cooling capabilities.

Depending on your components I would say the corsair 800d Ftw or the 600/700 also. You won't regret it, it's money well spent imo.

He's asking what the best air cooled case is....800D is one of the worst for air cooling.....awesome for water, not air.

I would have to agree that when it comes to air cooling the HAF-X is at, or near the top of the list.  Not a beautiful case IMO, but very functional.  I still say my 1200 while a bit small inside is still one of the best air cooled cases....but could no longer recommend it with all the much better cases available today.

The HAF X, really? I was quite unimpressed with the stock air flow, and found you had to order the 200mm MegaFlows in order to push anything adequately.
Give the Corsair 650D Mid Tower that was just released some consideration. They've finally implemented a front panel intake.

I thought I remember seeing a CFM test done somewhere..a review site or youtube maybe......it moved an impressive amount of CFM.  Maybe it was the original HAF, but I'm quite sure it moved the air quite well.  See if I can find it...........

I am very impressed with mine.. This thing blows so much air I have to wear socks while sitting near it to keep my toes warm, and sometimes gloves.

Hmmm, I'm debating checking out the Silverstone RV02 with their new Penetrator fans in it.  It's supposed to be the same internally as the FT02 but the FT02 does not yet come with those fans.  Supposedly the local Fry's has the regular RV02 in stock so I can swing by and check out the styling and such in person.  I definitely like the FT02 styling better, but apparently the bit-tech tests that put the FT02 first for CPU and 1C behind the HAF-X for GPU was a special edition black & red version that DID come with the Penetrator fans.  So that may cause me to end up with the HAF-X after all even though I'm liking the 90 degree rotation concept of the Silverstone.

Hmmm, so it looks like I'm probably going to end up with the HAF-X after all.  The FT02 just looks like it has too many clearance issues with CD drives up against the motherboard.  I'll run into that with my planned setup since I'll have my GTX260 back in the system for physx and it will either go in the other x16 slot on the MB which puts it right in the problem zone for CD drive power and SATA connectors, or it will go in the 4x slot, which forces my HT Omega to move to the other PCI slot, which just happens to be slot 7 and again I'm up against the CD drive.

The original Raven RV02 which I looks at might work, there's one extra PCI slot but it's still tight.  I'm also reading a lot about needing power extenders and such for drives in these two cases.  The other problem is I thought I might replace the 180mm's in either one with Silverstone's Penetrator series, but those apparently have a problem of fan blades snapping off and failing.

The HAF-X is a big case, you could almost fit a mid tower inside it lol.
One design issue i noticed with the HAF-X is the fan duct you can place over the end of graphics card, that thing can be a pain in the butt to mount.

I wish coolermaster would sell blue/red 200mm fans that come with the same led on/off wire like the stock red one, that way you can turn off the LED's and keep the fans running.
The blue/red 200mm fans coolermaster sells uses a different circuit board for the fan motor. I pulled the sticker back, its missing the soldering points.

Yeah I think the only thing I'm not totally sold on is the look of the HAF series.  That's why I was hoping the Silverstones would work out.  I just don't think I can fit everything I want in one of them easily.  If I was going water cooling, without a doubt I'd be on something like the 800D but I'm not so that's out.

So long as you do what I did with the fans, the 800D has quite a bit better air cooling than is widely recognized...not THE BEST but there is no perfect case right now.
Having an H70 helps the temps tremendously, also so that a heatsink isn't spilling hot air inside the case.
I've got two Antec TriCool 120mm handling the push/pull intake on my H70's rad, with Cooler Master 120s, three blue and two red, on the top and bottom, respectively.

+1 on the VGA cooling duct fan being hard to mount with GTX 5xx cards, anything over 8-9 inches and it does get tricky, it ca be done though. I love my HAF X right now, I have a P67 build thread in the General Hardware Forum, so if you would like you could check that out for some insight.

Hmmm, so you're saying the 800D can do good air cooling?  I know there are lots of exhaust options but it doesn't look like from reviews that they are too happy about it's intake capability.

I have no heat issues, and I'm running two GTX 580s and a 4.6GHz overclock on my processor.
With the upgrade kits Corsair came out with to give the Obsidian series front panel USB 3.0 and the hot swap bays 6Gb/s capability, this case will be relevant for awhile
