This build is looking really good! I wish you posted more pictures though. Nice case. What will the final specs be?

Thank you guys for the comments and staying tuned!
The Ameritool gas charged lift spring is installed, and WORKS PERFECT. Thanks to Cheapskate and all of his help in revising everything.
I made the decision to add assist spring as SAFETY measure and as secondary assist in supporting weight of the 8.5 pound cover. It will also help extend lifespan of electric firgelli actuator and prevent cover from slamming shut, in case the actuator ever needed to be removed for replacement, or failed for some reason.
I chose the 10 pound lift rating for their 750-4 Stainless Gas Spring

The support shock fits the build perfectly. And it's also a very good addition for safety in today's sue happy world.

Hey everyone, just a small update. I'm waiting for hardware and custom sleeved PSU cables to arrive from frozencpu. Evga has informed us the X79 Dark should be ready sometime this month.
I realized something disappointing this week with the Firgelli actuator. It's Black threaded fastener connector / cap was casted in hollow plastic, not solid. I was closing the cover and the cap snapped. We're now making a replacement from solid aluminum. I'm glad I made this discovery before the Tech Station was shipped to FrozenCPU.

Hollow plastic is not very rigid and you found out. Hope that is resolved for you quickly.

It'll be a little while longer. Keep in mind that the motherboard being used hasn't even been released yet. Also keep in mind that this isn't the only project that MNPCTECH is working on.

May want to check with the manufacturer to ensure your application is within the spec of the actuator. It may be that it is designed to shear off before the shaft is damaged...

Thanks to Jon and everyone for your comments!
The actuator met the requirements of this application, I also spoke to Firgelli's Support, to confirm this before purchasing it.
Vern Gibson aka "Twizted" posted video of the custom PCB control board he created for Firgelli's PCB board, so we can power the actuator without power to the PC. (Linear actuator opens and closes the top cover) Vern's PCB board is programmed to open and close the actuator to specified positions. Operator must press and hold both Bulgin switches at same time, in order for the cover to close, for safety.
To Open: Push either of the two Bulgin Vandal Switches
To Close: Press and hold both Bulgin switches
Blue LEDs blink while actuator is moving.

Such a great looking piece. I got to the part of where the plastic piece snapped and immediately thought...no biggie ,they can just make a suitable METAL replacement. Then you stated that in your next sentence. In the first picture of the build, I originally thought it was acrylic backed by aluminum. There are too many features to list, to say wow I love that idea. Beautiful work!!!

Do you guys use a water jet or is most of your work done with CNC?
And do you guys offer the MB standoffs , looks like they could be used as case feet as well.

Thank you for the comments and feedback, Gang!

Got the PCB board back yesterday with programmed stopping points. I should have it re-installed this Friday.

Machined replacement for the firgelli plastic threaded cap

Custom PCB control board, made by Vern Gibson, aka Twizted

Vern gave each of the pin connectors their own pin layout, so there is no confusion to the  connections on the PCB board.

I would say that Vern did a really good job on the connector layout.

Indeed rjohnson! and hes in Hospital getting gastric bypass surgery, so hes even more in my thoughts today

My Friend, Jesse thought it would be good idea to post video clip of the cover opening, so I recorded different angles before leaving last night. Here are the screen shots, until I get caught up with other "video editing" obligations.
