HI

I bought titan x Last month & I noticed that the graphic card is heating up & I have to use PRECISION X 16 to increase the fan speed MANUALLY & when it touches its Limit 83C. At 83c the fan speed hardly goes to 2500+ & after few minutes my pc freezes.

for the fan speed I have to use PRECISION X16 without that it wont work.
anyone getting this issue ?

Here you can use a custom bios to make fanspeed go 100% when 80c, I don't trust software for anything rather than OC.

I recommend using nvidiainspector instead of Precision/MSI AB

just delete the space between mega and .co.nz in your url bar and press enter

bios also allow higher overclock, increased core voltage. with this bios and overclock I don't reach above 76c on stock cooler

    it gets quite loud though

I don't recommend a custom BIOs. I recommend increasing your PC chassis airflow or alternatively buy this when available:

I saw in reviews when TITAN X is present normal temps under full load was 85C.
That's on ambient temp, without case.
On such card, premium chip, 250-260W power consumption I would keep fan spin constant on 80% from moment when I start some game where GPU usage is more than 90%.
Look little over net, TITAN X everywhere is over 80C in games as Crysis 3, ....
Nobody say 70-72C, only close to 85C. But that's not with TITAN X only, with 780Ti was same, TITAN Black around 80C.
This is from TPU, I believe to them...

I can bet fan profile 70-85% could keep temps in every game on edge of 79-80-81C.
    Maybe even less.

I was running Crysis 3 in 4K on SLI Titan X SC cards. Yes you need Precision X set on Auto Fan to enable the fans otherwise it looks like they don't come on and the temp shot up to about 90C I have fans set to about 60% just because that's quiet enough for me and it keeps them both around 80C and they seem, to work fine (this game looks magnificent in 4K!)

I would never use a custom bios on such an expensive card, but that's just me, it can void your warranty if the card dies for some reason and you can't put the default bios back on. Just use software to manage it.

The default bios fan profile does let it get too hot for me, so I use Precision or afterburner and even at full load it only reaches low 70's and about 85% fan speed with my custom fan curve.

Is there an ideal temperature the card should run at? How hot is too hot?

When they hit 83C the cards will aggressively downclock/throttle to compensate, so that is the max temp Nvidia feels is safe to run these cards 24/7. In AB/Precision you can raise this limit to 91C before throttle, but you will probably want to ramp your fan up to compensate.   If you are overclocking you will probably get a lock-up/freeze before the card gets close to 90C, so the cooler, the better if you are overclocking.  Most benchers run 100% fan for bench runs, but if you want to run high OCs 24/7 you will prob want to put them on water or AIO cooling.

Me too. I use custom BIOS only on cards with 2 BIOS.
And SC or Hybrid version offer what 99% of people need.

I agree, card should stay under 80C, it's not big problem even if temp is constant 80C.
Best temps are 50-70C, but that's not always possible on so strong graphic cards without some better cooling.
Cards with power consumption below 180-190W are always 10-15C colder than 240-260W...but there are much hotter cards than TITAN X...
It's nice because NVIDIA after GTX480 didn't launch something like that. But AMD yes, HD6970 and R9-290X both are hot as GTX480.

My Titan X does not get anywhere near 83c unless I do not turn the fans up. I have a superclocked that I have put a decent overclock on top of that for about 1413mhz (some go up to 1450mhz), all on air and with my fans up at 75% my card might go low 70c.

I was able to get both Titan X SC cards to hit a constant 99% usage and up to 83C running Crysis 3 at 4K Ultra. They did freeze up. I had the fans at 80% or even 100%. Probably worth getting the ACX coolers.

Your Titan X freezes at 83C? Hmm might be defective? My top card hits 92C in SLI and has never frozen before. These cards should be able to hit 100-105C before hitting TJmax and blue screening/crashing.

Is there a way I can test them? Probably with OC Scanner X?

I was planning on just replacing the cooler with the ACX2.0+ but it's not yet available in Australia and I can't find anyone online from the states willing to ship it here. Had the same problem sourcing the back plate, which I still don't have. Fun times!
