Hi guys,

I'm stepping up from the 980 TI SC to the 1080 SC. I have a EVGA SuperNOVA 850 B2, 80+ BRONZE 850W PSU that is semimodular. The PSU came with a VGA plug in to the power supply and two 6 pin plugs with an addition 2 pin on it, so it's really a 6 pin plus 8 pin on one cable. That worked perfectly on my 980 Ti SC because it required a 6 + 8 pin VGA cable. However, the new 1080 SC only requires an 8 pin cable. My question is, on this VGA cable can I use just the 8 pin (6+2) for the 1080 SC and keep the 6 pin unplugged since I don't need the 6 pin? Will that be a problem? I don't have any other VGA cables.

If that is a problem, can I just use the two 6 pin adaptor to 8 pin that comes with the 1080 SC? Will that cause and power or performance loss?

I don't see any problems with using only 8pin connector on cable that have 6 and 8pin connector.

Ofc you could get tiny amount more power(wire resistance etc) from single connector cable but that wont matter here

Not an issue with the 6-pin in the breeze.

Besides that is Much better than the Y-cable two 6=pins to one 8-pin addapter

Have fun,

The 6+2 is perfect. That's what I use.
