I just wanted to see what others are able to achieve on here with overclocking their GTX 970.

Currently I have +150 core and +150 memory. Im still working on it though will update as I progress. This is with Stock Blower cooler BTW from EVGA.

So my boost core clock currently is 1478 MHz and memory is 1828 MHz

If you want to see my scores for 3dMark11 or Firestrike check my system build THANKS!

IIRC, was able to fold @ 1510MHz core... but that isn't exactly what you were asking either. :)

Well I just purchased a custom water cooler so I'll see how high I can push it. For using stock blower cooler though I think my clocks are pretty good.

You guys are nuts to OC a GPU card, In my opinion its the worst thing you can do to a computer component. Just my opinion is all  :)

I don't buy my computer components to last forever, or to save money. That said, overclocking a GPU is a good way to extend the life of a card that may be a bit too slow for the current crop of games. What's the alternative? Trash bin?

At this point with all the built in fail-safes I don't see why people have this line of thinking. And the 2-4 fps avg. people can get on games when benchmarking on flat ultra can become 10-15 fps when you consider real-world knocking down settings like Ambient Occlusion and AA.

I can't get a stable overclock to save my life with the 970 SC. Somehow SWTOR is breaking my drivers, but with all the bench mark testing, and even playing assasin creed unity runs perfect. No idea why this old game keeps crashing it. I thought I had it smooth at +100 core, +150 memory, and works great outside of swtor. I am going to try to do just core for now, it seems the memory is the one causing it to crash more often. Going to try to push for 1400 again.

If anyone has any tips let me know.

I currently own a GTX 970 SC Edition, running at 1500Mhz Core clock (+134MHz) and the memory is +235MHz. stable, but the only thing I have to complain about my card is the FAN NOISE! I don't know why it is SO loud, even at half fan speed, sounds like a turbine. EVGA did indeed CLAIM that the ACX 2.0 Cooler was going to be, 26% Cooler and 36% more quite. Even my card fan speed set at such an aggressive level, it still isn't cool....Like, I am afraid to game on it for a while because I need to fan speed ramped up to about 50-75% fan speed to maintain a temperature under 80C. It's average temperature under load is about 75-80, which in my opinion, EVGA did not do there job right on their claims.

Yea, the fans are pretty loud after 50% imo. Did you adjust the power target or voltage to get those speeds? Really starting to think I just got unlucky with this card.

No, the power and voltage is stock, Just adjusted the Core Clock and Memory Clock on Precision x16......Even when I am on Default settings, the card still runs too damn hot. and loud......I would like EVGA to tell me if I have a card that needs to be RMA'd

And yet you own a GPU that is overclocked... Not much of an opinion anymore, but a troll. And before you say it's a safe overclock because it was done in the factory, they do exactly the same thing as we do at home. Raise the core while keeping voltages at stock and then check for stability. The only thing different is they chose an OC as standard for that particular GPU which will give good yields per the silicone lottery. If done correctly, it is very far from being the worst thing you can do to a computer component.

I'm still in the progress of testing the stability of my overclock for my GTX 970 FTW. However, the last settings I tested seem to be stable at:

+120 MHz core clock (1487 boost, 1524 reported by gpu-z)
    +400 MHz memory clock
with about ~75c using the stock fan curve

I haven't gotten the chance to try firestrike but it passed unigine perfectly fine and was able to run games like GW2 and BF4 for at least an hour. I don't think I'll be pushing this card any further and I will probably settle for a +113 core clock and +300 memory clock just in case of stability issues in games I haven't tested yet.

GPU +135mhz @ 1501mhz , Memory +400mhz @ 7812mhz (not max), +25mv. Works fine in Heaven but crashes in 3DMark -11. Any ideas how to make them both work? If i set V to 37mv it still doesnt work in 3DMark. Will other drivers work better/different or is i all the same?

I use a EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX2.0 cooled with a Raijintek Morpheus interesting thing:

With the ACX cooler the card couldnt hold a constant boost clock but since i build in the Raijintek cooler i get constant 1405Mhz @ stock, i can OC my card to +95Mhz CC and +495 MC to get a game and benchmarkstable oc of 1500/4000 and that at a peak temp of 45° gaming and about 49-50° benchmark thats insane im interested how far i could go when i play with the voltage.

    Hello!

i have a question about your Combo 970+Morpheus. Can you maybe tell me, how long the card is with the morpheus installed? It would be nice, if you can give me that info.

    Thank you very much :)

So far I can do +10 with a modded BIOS for 1516MHz
    Non-modded I can do +250 for 1506MHz

Memory I usually leave at default as I've found it doesn't affect my overclocking

I have 2 GTX 970 FTW. Through a modded BIOS they both run stable at 1582 MHz core and 4000 MHz memory @ 1,275V. I'm on water and the powerlimit is at 250W (modified PCIe rail and PCIe connectors powerlimit). In Firestrike and Far Cry 4 they reach powerlimit easily but I am a bit scared to let them take even more.

Is the PCIe rail/connectors on the PSU hardmodded or were you talking about the card's modded BIOS?

No hardmod on the PSU. I just mean the modification of the BIOS...

Hi, I want to ask how you can achieve that high boost clock od 1467 ? I have the same card and if I overclock the core +100Mhz and run OC Scanner GPU-Z show only 1277Mhz. Can anyone explain how this boost works ? Thank you.

Edit: Hmm, strange In Valley benchmark I have boost on 1345Mhz and OC Scanner only 1117 ? Does anybody know what influence how far boost can go ?

Do not trust figures in valley , I have a 970 FTW and it tells me my boost is 1657 MHz !! I use precision x , I find this gives me an accurate reading . My max is 1534 gpu core clock settings 127 oc and 257 mem oc . No change on voltage , fan speed 40% gives me 61Deg C max temp . Idles at between 30-35 depending on ambient temp . But I play all my games at stock settings and still get 65 - 70 fps in Crysis 3 multiplayer at 1440 resolution on high settings . Most other games I have play at max settings on 4k . Luckily I have a 120 refresh monitor 📺.

Yes, those numbers are not precise very often. Nevertheless, I was able to clock core +100 and mem +400 but clocking of the memory so high has no big effect. My overall performance gain is around 7% so I think it is not worth of it.
