I was going to do a pie and show the same but then said no, we don't need no stinking pies for the teams.
So I Exited out of Excel and did not save it. Funning though that [H] only has 4 members.

Your "pies" are more exciting than my text  I know I appreciate them as well as others, even though I only get a thin slice................I need to diet anyway!!!

I thought that was "funny" too when I counted the Crunchers... I recounted [H] 3x and was amazed!!! Thus why I gave kudos to them for their power against the top 5 with 4x less (minimum) amount of Crunchers.

Yep!  [H] had the Power House for BigAdv Projects over on Folding @ Home and why they where number one for so long.
But it looks like more EVGA Team Members started over on BOINC then did [H] Team Members. [H]ardOCP Still holding strong @ #3
Still we have a lot EVGA Members that just stopped then the BigAdv stopped. Some have been off the radar for over a year now.
If it was not for the BigAdv I might not be here myself. That is what Hooked me at the time that is.

We had to do something with all these CPU threads.
I like WCG, bio work units, not great point producers, but I myself do not care about the points or being in 1st place in any project.
I got away from folding and chasing the points race.
The PG challenges drew me in because it was something the team really liked to do, and I try to help keep us in 5th place vs all the big teams out there.
Have to say, "I am impressed that we have 17 in this challenge, looks like we are growing a bit".  <--- Not sure if the quotation marks are grammarly correct or not.
Good job everyone.

Just threw together another 12 thread E5649 going to run it for a day or so.
And then box it up to send to my son in FL. for him and the family to use.  We will get a few points out of it for a while.  I am testing it, make sure it is stable.
His system will not start at all, it is a dual AMD something or other I built many years ago.
Sending Rampage3 Gene, E5649 small overclock 3.6ghz some ram and a EVGA GT460 video and a new 650w SPU. He can upgrade the video card at a later date if he wants to.
Told him to get a 240SSD for the OS and a 1 or 2TB HD to hold games and pictures. He can reuse the case maybe the DVD if it is SATA, don't know off hand.
Win10 is married to the board so he can install it fresh.

One thing I read over at PG It might be better to run Haswel and Broadwell CPU with HT off.
I know for sure my Sandybridge and Westmere like to have it on. My Ivy bridge and Haswell do not have HT, I hear Ivybridge HT is on ok
I am not sure what are you guys running, check you stats again

I had found with my Westmere x56xx and sandybridge 2011 3930k it does 2 x the work in  x1.6 the time  They said Haswell were the worst for HT.
I hear it takes 2.02 x the time to do 2 x the work, not much, but not good either, extra heat and energy I would thing.

So I would just double check and see if you get those same results

Greetings Team eVGA.  :)  I can confirm that running HT on Haswell is ill advised; however it's just fine on SB/IB.

Happy crunching!

OK, so now I'm confused......i7 4790k- Haswell Refresh- I had HT on mild OC-4.4ghtz and running 58*-60* all 8 cores/ I turned HT off and running 54*56*  4 cores. No times yet since I just turned it off. So i will be 4 cores down for the day.

Yeah, I had some bad results with HT on, on 2x computers, turned off, then got faster completion times.
This is more about the Chipset type rather than a blanket yes or no for HT for these tasks.

i'm going to have to work harder for a bigger slice of pie! yummm.

Oh man I could run all kinds of ways with that statement.
Bit I think there is already a thread in the general section about working harder for a bigger slice of the pie
Just save some pie for when you retire !!!

That is not bad, 2 x 67 is 134.
HT on at 96 is 2 x the work in less than the time
Anything under 134 running 2 at a time is a bonus.
So why is your Haswel not the same........?

4790k stock speeds (4.0 ghz).  T<70 degree C.

HT-ON
WU - Run Time (s) - CPU Time (s)
WU 508296356 - 10727.62 - 5182.91
WU 508296171 - 11088.91 - 5085.20
Avg - 10500 to 11000 second (Run time) - 4500-5500 seconds (CPU time)

HT-OFF
WU 508342766 - 4241.72-2971.22
WU 508339825 - 4129.67 - 3014.91
 Avg - 4000-4500 second (run time) - 3000 to 3500 (cpu time)

Here's what i've got so far.  Run time is much faster w/HT of but CPU time is better with HT -on...what's the difference as far as which number should we be looking at?...been meaning to ask that but keep forgetting.

Scott Brown is now on Aggie the Pew.
Catching them with CPU will be impossible now. We did pass them last GPU challenge.
Wonder if will be able to the next GPU challenge.

Maybe some one can break this HT down to the CPU Model and not its name.

I just look at total time to run a WU from start to finish. As far as HT in BOINC.
If I can do two times the work in less than two times the time, it is worth it. As long as the extra load does not over heat the CPU.
Folding SMP will always shorten the run time.

Scott Brown is on Aggie The Pew.  That is big news.

We're 20% of the way through this challenge:

Challenge: Isaac Newton's Birthday
App: 29 (GCW-Sieve)
(As of 2017-01-05 18:11:51 UTC)

414622 tasks have been sent out. [CPU/GPU/anonymous_platform: 410762 (99%) / 0 (0%) / 3860 (1%)]

Of those tasks that have been sent out:

3045 (1%) came back with some kind of an error. [2950 (1%) / 0 (0%) / 95 (0%)]
245929 (59%) have returned a successful result. [242462 (58%) / 0 (0%) / 3468 (1%)]
165665 (40%) are still in progress. [165367 (40%) / 0 (0%) / 298 (0%)]

Of the tasks that have been returned successfully:

88337 (36%) are pending validation. [87089 (35%) / 0 (0%) / 1249 (1%)]
157584 (64%) have been successfully validated. [155368 (63%) / 0 (0%) / 2216 (1%)]
6 (0%) were invalid. [4 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 2 (0%)]
2 (0%) are inconclusive. [1 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 1 (0%)]

Using the most conservative metric (tasks successfully returned), we're doing 8.5 times our normal rate. Fantastic! (That's the equivalent of doing an extra 2.5 months of sieving over the course of the full 10 days.)

Fantastic! (That's the equivalent of doing an extra 2.5 months of sieving over the course of the full 10 days.)

sweeet.  I think last i read they had about 10 months of seiving work to do before it can go to LLR.  This should help bring the project out sooner than anticipated ^_^.  Go team!

We're 20% of the way through this challenge:

Challenge: Isaac Newton's Birthday
App: 29 (GCW-Sieve)
(As of 2017-01-05 18:11:51 UTC)

414622 tasks have been sent out. [CPU/GPU/anonymous_platform: 410762 (99%) / 0 (0%) / 3860 (1%)]

On my 4770k stock speed HT off = 67 minutes  HT on = well over 95 minutes

That is not bad, 2 x 67 is 134.
HT on at 96 is 2 x the work in less than the time
Anything under 134 running 2 at a time is a bonus.
So why is your Haswel not the same........?

4790k stock speeds (4.0 ghz).  T<70 degree C.

HT-ON
WU - Run Time (s) - CPU Time (s)
WU 508296356 - 10727.62 - 5182.91
WU 508296171 - 11088.91 - 5085.20

HT-OFF
WU 508342766 - 4241.72-2971.22
WU 508339825 - 4129.67 - 3014.91

Here's what i've got so far.  Run time is much faster w/HT of but CPU time is better with HT -on...what's the difference as far as which number should we be looking at?...been meaning to ask that but keep forgetting.

I'm going to let non-HT run for a few more hours and then try HT again.  I turned off my folding program just in case, CPU folding should have been off but it has annoying habit of turning on when i'm not watching so we'll see if times change by tonight for me.

ger...double posted on accident.

Thanks wizanhi
On my Haswell-E i7-5960X the time is not so different so I will keep HT On.
On my Broadwell E5-2680v4 turn Off HT or Turn Off Logical Processers

Per PG It might be better to run Haswell-E and Broadwell CPU with HT off, Thanks bill1024 http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2601516

FWIW, here's what I've found with hyper-threading on 2P Haswell and 4P Sandy/Ivy Bridge.

Cliffs:  HW wu's with HT turned on barely came in under 2x the time for 2x the output; whereas SB/IB wu's are taking 60% longer for 2x the output.

OK, seems I can't post links.  It's over in the [H] DC forum for those who care to look.
