Hi guys, I have a TCL 4k 55UP120.
I also have a 980ti. All 4 of the HDMI ports on the display are HDMI 2.0
I am using a 25ft HDMI 2.0 cable in an attempt to play casual 4k games.

So far the computer recognizes that there is indeed a 4k display, but the TV will not pick up the signal.
If I force the TV to run at 1080p, perfect it has a signal. But any higher and the TV just won't pick it up.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I emailed their support, but now I'm kind of obsessing about the things I could do to get the tv to work.

Please help me out.

Also check you're Nvidia CP settings. Make sure the resolutions match to the TV setting.

I've checked that, it is matching. Just won't go through when I apply the settings.

Any recommendations? I got this cable thinking it was high quality, so I don't want to get burned twice.

After 25ft they are no longer certified for high speed. Standard speed cables can carry 1080p but it depends on the device is why we only list them as 1080i/720p. Many newer devices though if all you want is 1080p can achieve that with standard speed cables, you only really need a standard speed cable if you are running both 3D and 1080p.

so maybe with 4k   you may need to keep it like 12 feet ??

that may help bolster the distance  of your cable needs ??

lot of stuf to look at on this ??    whats fact or fiction of all of it ??

So basically at 25ft my hdmi 2.0 cable reverts to only standard speed?

It's weird that standard cables can do 4K at 30hz but my cannot even do that.

got to say that's a pretty sad manual  on that tv..

    http://www.manualslib.com/manual/1072884/Tcl-50up130.html?page=51#manual

    http://www.tclusa.com/downloads/4kLaunch/Final_UP120UM.pdf

don't cover nothing about pc use  nothing in the specs for pc    nothing    so with that for all you know its not capable of doing pc  at all    like any hdtv used a a pc monitor  its got to be well covered  and its a fine line weather one makes a great pc monitor or one that just don't or cant ..    [well  maybe this ? '' #10 on page 20 ]

no coverage of any pc monitor use in the manual would be my first warning    then seems they got 90% of the manual for the roku   more covered on that then the rest of the tv??

so maybe just good enugh for using a computer for looking up a movie though roku  at best ??

so witgh all I looked at   its just not pc capable to me

lots of  ''bugs'' in these reviews ?

    https://www.amazon.com/TCL-Class-UHD-Roku-Smart/product-reviews/B01G6DX83K/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_hist_5?filterByStar=five_star&pageNumber=1

like this  on page 56 to start it shows the hdtv's  ''pc timings  ''  [pages 22, 47 [dot by dot]   13 show the hdmi ports and revisions of each  hdmi port 6 would be used ]

    http://www.manualslib.com/manual/1021793/Sceptre-U505cv-Umc.html?page=56#manual

you kinda see that at least  point out pc capabilities   and you may have a leg to stand on with it ??

then look up end users reviews  on a set
was not quite expecting this tv to be very good, but I was wrong! I am currently using this as a monitor for my computer and it is AWESOME!

Works great as a pc monitor. No lag, no ghosting. Must have Nvidia 900 series video card to display 4K @ 60hz, with full RGB. Only the 900 series cards are equipped with Hdmi 2.0.

What an awesome deal! I'm using it for my computer monitor, and It was better than I expected. I have a EVGA 980 graphics card and it handles 4k UHD easily

little things like that go a long way ??
