That's nice. Time to release some 4k 120Hz monitors.

1920x1080, meh.  As Sajin said, it's time to release 4K 120Hz monitors.  We now have graphics cards that support DisplayPort 1.3, so now we just need displays that need it.

I was wondering about the resolution... (I don't click the links.. I prefer info in the thread.)

Not worth it when eizo already had 240hz monitors that are 1080 if I am not mistaken.

For what it's worth, I still love my first gen ROG Swift monitor! However, the industry needs to let 1080p die, 1440p is now the minimum.

It's the minimum, yet we still don't have a 4K display over 60Hz for gaming.  The only options in my eyes for premium gaming are 2560x1440 and 3440x1440.  Things are progressing rather slowly.

    I cannot agree more!!
That is exactly what I have been waiting on for a long time, 4k/120Hz/GSync  :)

Same here, I love my ROG Swift, viewing angle sucks but I always view it straight on, so it is fine for me.  I think 1080p is fine for Internet, TV, office work etc, if you are doing anything visual, either gaming or visual work like Photoshop or video editing, than 1440p should be the minimum.  1080p imho is the new "old reliable 4:3 monitor we've had forever".

It's good because they show us resolution...

It's question where they lead us... ? In higher resolution or now is time for refresh rate and for 2-3 years they will continue with resolution increasing.
For 3 years 240Hz 4K will be standard. But he will work on 240Hz only with watercooling...default will be 180-200Hz. Maybe we will OC and resolution.
Imagine that, you pay 3840x2160 and OC to 4096x2160...

It's a nice 24 inch model with a price that should be within many gamers budgets.

There, I fixed it a bit. GTX10X0 series cards are DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b.

    I have a 27" 1080p 144hz monitor for fast paced FPS.

My second monitor is a 21:9 (60hz) - 3440X1440p 34" widescreen. (Doom is unbelievable on it)

Both serve their purposes well :D

I have been debating on getting that monitor. Whats your opinion on it. Pros and cons

I bought this monitor in December. (just yesterday I noticed Windows has an update for it, I'm not sure what that was about)

    Pros:
    1. Color. A real refresher after being on TN panels for so long. This may be the biggest thing you notice at first.

    2. Resolution. Coming from 1920 x 1080 in surround, it's definitely something to be appreciated. I have a 4K monitor as well and it's not as sharp as that, but the X34's aspect ratio wins the battle for me. Having said that, if it wasn't for 21:9, I'd still be using surround and opted for this monitor because of space and my current living situation. Although now, my appreciation has grown for the monitor and I don't see myself going back to my old surround setup regardless of those reasons.  I'll mention that small text and icons are not a concern for me.

    3. G-Sync. It's great, smooth. That said, I'm probably not hyper sensitive to micro stutter, but I don't notice any or tearing. In fact, recently I noticed input lag playing pCARS, but not totally at first because the play was still very smooth... playable. Sense I don't drink and drive, I said to myself "what the hell is going on". I checked fps and it was way down. It ended up being my MOBO and the SLI slot, after changing it's configuration and reinstalling the video driver fps shot way back up and 0 input lag (kind of critical with driving games). Without G-Sync, I think this would have been noticeable much sooner.

    4. View angle. This wasn't something I put much thought into because I figure I always sit straight in front of the monitor anyway, but I did notice it's improvement and have come to appreciate it more. TNs have a much worse view angle.

    5. The screen texture. Normally, I am a fan of glossy screens because of the enhanced color or vibrance and opt to play in a dark room, but this monitor has an excellent glare treatment to it. It's not glossy, but it's not too heavily matted either. It's a great compromise IMO.

    6. The stand. While it does take a bit more room, I don't feel it's cheaply made. It's sturdy, made of aluminum, and has good height a tilt adjustment.

    CONS:
     1. Expensive. And two more are really expensive, but I don't regret buying the one.

    2. Hz. While 100Hz is good. It's not enough to use Nvidia 3D Vision, which to most probably doesn't matter, but I would have liked this feature.

    3. Light bleed (or whatever it is). With the monitor on and no image, I can see some light coming through more in the corners, but not a lot. This whole issue I saw in reviews ended up being a total non-issue for me. I can't tell a damn thing when there is an image on the screen.

    4. The monitors buttons and menu. Maybe it's good to not see the buttons aesthetically, but it is rather annoying when you do have to use them. The menu navigation doesn't aid in the button placement annoyance either. Lastly the monitor didn't come at 100Hz by default and it must be setup through the monitor menu as well as Control Panel. IIRC Acer may have fixed this and shipping them with 100Hz enabled.

    5. Set up. IDK if this has anything to do with the monitor, but for me it wasn't exactly plug and play. Going to DP and G-Sync maybe, but reinstalled the video driver and eventually the display was recognized. Not a big deal.

    6. A personal note. Lastly, I do miss the extra peripheral view that surround offered over 21:9, albeit being stretched mostly, I still miss it with fps and driving type games.
