Hey guys so Im having a little problems building my pc right now.So like I connected the PCI-E cables 8-8-0 and this message keeps on popping up"please power down and connect pcie power cables for this graphics card".So I tried many different patterns to try to get this to work but none of them seem to work.I have a 500 watt PSU so maytbe thats the problem help please ):!

    you need two 8pin + a 6 pin to run that card correctly 8+8+6 total of 3 wire from pcie cables of psu

    As Mustang stated, you are required to connect all cables to the card.

    Use the 2x molex to 6-pin adapter that came with the card.

    Your PSU is not up to the task either. This card is pulling at the very least a possible 150w from each 8 pin, 75w from 6 pin and 25w from the pci-e slot....
    Just saying.
    I'd be on the lookout for a decent 650w powersupply at this stage, one that has 8pin and 6pin pci-e cables as native.

    There's a 750W PSU on newegg that will be $55 today at 6PM PDT if you need something cheap. You can also check out EVGA b-stock for a cheap one too, like $45 for a 750W and $35 for a 600W.

    this is the adapter you need for your psu 500 watt you have that should have came with your card plug two 4 pin molex into it then plug the 6 pin into the card next to the two 8 pin

    So true.  Don't cheap out on the power supply as it will cause system instability or worse.

    A 500W power supply will not cut it. Nvidia recommend at least a 600W power supply. If you want to overclock add in an extra 50W.

    SLI 980 Ti KPE OC'ed to 1520MHz only draws 720 watts peak during fire strike, measured with a kilo watt meter not software.
     
    I think he should do fine with a good quality 650 watt PSU for one 980 KPE. Unless he intends on going with a second 980 then I would upgrade to a 750 or 850 to be safe.
