Hi everyone

It could be that I have made a topic about my VGA table, but after two EVGA mods that loved my VGA table idea and that even one of them wanted me to make a separate topic about this subject, I was like okay no worries!

Well where to begin, well the VGA table was my Voodoo table once when I bought it as a solution to store my ultra rare 3dfx VGA cards also a way to display them so you could look in to the table and study the items you have collected over the years, or look up a certain detail, this was actually the original idea behind it, as some window you looked through to see all the gems you have collected over the years, as some time capsule.

So in the early days this is how the VGA table looked like with my first 3dfx Voodoo card collection I had 27 cards afaik xD

Here from an other angle:

And that is where it all began it gave me idea's of how would it look like if I placed all 3dfx Engineering Samples, Pre-Production prototypes, or Promo cards in there? I wanted more EVGA people, the urge for MOAR really came on, so from 2002 to 2006 I had thos cards up there and then I sold them all for about 876 euro's, which was a very good deal, as I paid about 450 to get them all

First 3dfx ES I got was the never released 3dfx Velocity 200 AGP 16MB Rev.A0 2699:

The velocity 200 was actually a Voodoo3 1000 AGP 16MB @ core/mem 143Mhz and 2 TMU's enabled, it was planned as office desktop solution, since there was also a Vodoo3 2000 AGP, the Velocity 200 was canceled. The velocity 100 AGP 8MB is actually a Voodoo3 1000AGP 8MB with only 1 TMU enabled of the two, the Velocity 200 would also suffer this fate if it were to be produced, there were ways to even enabled the disabled TMU with an easy software hack xD Would of been nice if we could do that with them GTX 480's, 570's  or 670's nowadays right xDDD There were a few GTX 470's that did have this ability as I am aware of, the ones of the first bath, they also had a green PCB.

Then from what I saved up with I finally bought the 3dfx goddess the first Quad Chip SLI VGA card ever made, the never released 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 + Late Voodoo Volts 60Watt External PSU:

The Internal hookup made it easier to use and TDP was 55 Watts instead of 60 Watts

Then I received this gift from a famous 3dfx collector gdonovan, a 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI+DVI from an ex-3dfx engineer that worked for the Apple Macintosh group:

This card is a Pre-Production Sample of what would be the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh for USA & VodoooMAC 5500 PCI for Europe :)

After that the ultra rare and elusive 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 came

This was actually the budget model of the Voodoo5 line, you'd have three series Voodoo5 5000 AGP/PCI 32MB the Budget V5.
Voodoo5 5500 AGP/PCI/PCI Mac 64MB the mid range V5
Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB as the high end V5.

Which got em to this image:
From top to bottom:
3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 Final Pre-Production Prototype
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 64MB Rev.A 2500 Production Sample
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 Engineering Sample

That were my first four 3dfx ES cards and from there it all changed, all the ultra rare stuff came and this was probably my golden days as wehn it came to 3dfx card colelcting and this is where the Voodoo Table also was going to get an upgrade it's self.

And then all them other cards were added and this was the result:

here from an other angle:

And then my mother came to a brilliant idea, as you can see the colour of the Voodoo table was orange like, I kinda liked it, but if there was a way to make it creme white for better pics? whe and I planned to paint it completely xDDD

So we did and done that and then we forgot something, even that we found out too little too late about this , we forgot to let the drawer dry as a separate part, instead we painted the entire thing with the drawer intact so what happened the paint kinda fused and dried it to the mainframe of the table it's self hahaha xDDDDD  Nuuuuuuuuuu

But for that I came to the idea to use a plunger, to which you use to lift the glass plate from the top and presto, I had a way to refill it, or rearrange the cards with in it!  yaaaay!!!

As the years went by i also sold and bought other cards and the lay out changed almost every year.

Here a photo SK1 made during the meeting when he came with his rarer and older 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A2 2600 back in 2007:

Also the first pic made with the table and it's creme white repaint.
Here his Rev.A2 2600 with my Rev.A 3700, as our 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 meet and greet went:

The Rev.A2 2600 is the shorter card and the one with the different PSU connector which looks like a S/Video out

About 8 months later I sold almost everything I had and bought a new Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 and a 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI 32MB Rev.A1 00900 Engineering Samples, which are these two:

And those two were my two 3dfx stars of my Voodoo Table, also a few ATi Engineering Samples & promo cards and the GX2's also took a starting place along side some other NVIDIA, ATI & 3dfx production boards, they all became a part of the Voodoo Table:

It was more a VGA table than a Voodoo table, as all them other brands within it, this is where a name change came from Voodoo table to VGA table, it made more sense too.

November 17, 2010:
After selling them Voodoo5 5000 Engineering Samples due to money need, even how painful this was, I went on and went Multi VGA brands, NVIDIA, ATi, AMD, and 3dfx was still a part of it too:

Also my first ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX Engineering Samples were in there, that black and red one, alongside the 3GX2's, like the EVGA 7900 GTX Duo aka 7900 GX2 SC Edition, MSI 7950 GX2 & XFX 9800 GX2 XXX Edition, my interest for GX2's also gained, as for that GTX 480 from Zotac I did that to see how it would look, that card was not even 2 days old rofl, this photo was taken somewhere in 2010. Matrox also took a role in the VGA table back in 2010 and beyond too.

November 24, 2010:
Here I gave it this layout, added a few ATI, Matrox & NVIDIA cards, also changed the layout and a mass of colours jumped out of it!

January 08, 2011
This is when 3dfx kind of made its comeback to me, and the VGA table became the Voodoo Table again:

Even that ATI, Matrox & NVIDIA also played a role in it

February 11, 2011
I just rearranged everything to make it different:

Often I changed the layout to make it look different even when having the same contents in it.

August 01, 2011
This was the day I obtained my 3rd and last HD 2900 XTX Engineering Sample the ultra rare Beta board, here a photo of all 4 different R600 boards, the three  Engineering Samples are all three HD 2900 XTX Engineering Sample Revisons made, from top to bottom:

ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX PCI-E 512MB 512Bit GDDR3 Rev.A11 0639 Alpha Board
ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX PCI-E 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A12 0646 Beta Board
ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX PCI-E 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A13a 0705 Gamma Board
ATi Radeon HD 2900 XT PCI-E 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A13b 0712 Production Board

Top view:

Rear view:

The R600 has always impressed me just that it was going to give the new standard to future Radeons even that it has flaws here and there, having them Radeon HD 2900 XTX Engineering Samples was really nice and that were also the last real ATI VGA cards ever made, the Radeon HD 2900 XT was made just after the AMD overtake, the XTX ES cards were made before this event, kinda historical there xD

That Beta board I also placed in the VGA table in the centre, the Alpha board I placed top left and the Gamma board bottom left:

October 21, 2011
added a rare ATi Radeon 9800 Pro AGP 256MB 256Bit DDRII:

As you cans ee I also rearranged the layout a bit here and there, but keeping them Voodoo5 5500 PCI & PCI Mac boxes in there, always looked awesome, like I have them EVGA GTX 295 Red Editions boxes 3dfx did make the most beautiful boxes when it came to Box arts though, so hard to replace  My Love for 3dfx shall always be with me.

March 29, 2012
No real changes here, just a little rearrange, just to make it's contents look differently setup:

June 23, 2012, this is a time when I sold the entire VGA card collection to a point and used the VGA tabel to store my favourite Descent & Freespace games from my Decscent /Freespace game collection which is the largest known in the world of it's kind:

Here the main topic of this awesome collection at Descent Task Force:

Also a link to the Interplay forums, everyone knows me due to this collection, it's also the mascot to the Descent Task Force, a Descent Community I Co-Founded with an other good Descent buddy of mine that goes by the name of Celestial Even that VGA cards would certainly return in the future, I was very sure of that!

Here a pic of my Descent/Freespace collection since the last recount:
Top lot:

Centre lot:

Bottom lot:

Entire Lot:

And a little video of it all:

And yes I still have it all, too hard to let go of, that is about 18 years and 7 months of collecting as I started on October 24, 1994 and it will keep on growing as long I can find new parts to add to it

September 25, 2012
This was a magical day, that the EVGA GTX 295 Red Edition USA Editions arrived to my doorstep and I gladly added them to the VGA table again with a Few NVIDIA & ATis and my favourite Descent & Freespace game items, hereby combining the idea of VGA cards & Descent & Freespace games all in one table:

June 02, 2013
This is the day I got my first 3dfx Engineering Sample since I sold the 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP & PCI back in 2011, meet the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 64MB Rev.A2 3500 Pre-Production Prototype:
Here compared with a production Voodoo5 5500 AGP 64MB Rev.A 2500:

This is where the VGA table got it's old look back again, VGA cards only, more VGA cards came and that made old known brands return, 3dfx, Matrox, ATi, S3 & NVIDIA, which gave this good looking mix:

August 04, 2013:
This is when I sold the Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 to an old friend in Italy, so I added an ATi rage 128 Pro Ultra from 1999, to fill up the gap, also added an AMD Radeon HD 6990 PCI_E 4096MB Reference Sample, which was very hard to find and I laid out the EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Editions in the middle of the top rows of the table:

That gave me more space to add in MOAR VGA cards, as you see it's a mix of 3dfx, ATi, Matrox & NVIDIA and this is how it will remain for quite sometime, unless an other drastic change will take place :)

This day the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 64MB Pre-Production Prototype returned, due to a 3 month delay for it's designated arrival in Italy, it was resent to me as a return to sender issue, due to incorrect address.

September 27, 2013
As for that V5 ES, which arrived on September 26, 2013, this day I made a photo of it back in the VGA table as if it never left it's old home:

So that is what it has become so far, I will add changes in here if they come to mind

As the IKEA table goes, I bought the Vitrine table from IKEA, they do have a similar newer version of this table, which is this one:

Many thanks for reading everyone

Well it's not about money it's more about the items it's self, most items I got for very good deals via great contacts I have built up since my 3dfx days
But yer it would be a very large pile if I'd add all the VGA cards I have not showed in these pics rofl.
But to me it's all about the interest of the hardware it's self over the money, as a collector money can sometimes play no role even how expensive the new item is, it's the interest that drives me to buy it also as worthy piece for the collection it's self.

HAL 9000? never heard of that sorry I only do High-End VGA cards alongside my Dinosaurs, Mosasaurs, Orchids, Dino-Rider, StarWars Starfighters etc
One day I do hope to add an EVGA GTX Titan in that table, once they get affordable, since the Titan is one of a kind, so it has some value for my High-End VGA Card collection

Sorry gold but its time to either get a bigger table or move this lot of awesomeness to a enclosed wall box(GPU wall art?) as leavening anything out now seems mean.Always like reading your new finds over the last few years, great project.

Re: Meet my VGA Table, a way of keeping loved hardware that is worth collecting xD 2013/09/27 06:19:14 (permalink)
Well you are all fiends of mine why not pay me a visit :) The newest addition is this NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Engineering Sample, which should arrive within a few weeks:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/231054122427?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Here the green glass part being protected, looks new xD well not used

As for Space and larger table, hmm I don't feel like doing that,. breathing space is also very important to me, also I have other interests, my Dino-Riders collection which mainly dates from 1987 to 1990, got a few replacements in 2006 and the latest addition was made on September 17, 2012, which was the ultra rare Pachyrhinosaurus with Atlas Mint in box, which was made and released on the market in 1989:

Here the DR collection it's self:

Top Rows:

Centre Rows:

Bottom Rows:

Entire Display:

This is the first thing I seriously collected and now it's a mix of lots of different things, so as my VGA card collection goes it's just one of the many things I really enjoy collecting, I  am more of a type that prefers to have a bit of everything.

As for my Orchids & Stegosauridae here they are:

From the left view:

From the left centre:

From the right view:

From the left view zoomed:

From the centre view zoomed:

From the right view zoomed:

Here some nice pics I took of my brand new blossoms of my  Zygopetalum Orchid!

These flowers started to open up about two days ago and today they were finally opened up fully

And along side that there are the StarWars Starfighters and the G.I Joe Jetfighters which hang above my workstations in my bedroom:
Gold Squadron

Raven Squadron

Dagger Squadron

So all of this takes up quite a lot of space and to store things I own in an other building won't make me feel safe about it.
So yeah I have various likes and that way the VGA table is large enough, sometimes I have to leg go of certain things to gain new things, but even that can be very complicated.

HAL 9000 is a fictional character in Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series. The primary antagonist of 2001: A Space Odyssey, HAL (Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer) is a sentient computer (or artificial intelligence) that controls the systems of the Discovery One spacecraft and interacts with the ship's astronaut crew. HAL's physical form is not depicted, though it is visually represented as a red television camera eye located on equipment panels throughout the ship.
HAL 9000 is voiced by Douglas Rain in the two film adaptations of the Space Odyssey series. HAL speaks in a soft, calm voice and a conversational manner, in contrast to the crewmen, David Bowman and Frank Poole, who speak tersely and with little emotional inflection.

HAL became operational on 12 January 1997 at the HAL Laboratories in Urbana, Illinois as production number 3; in the film 2001, the activation year was 1992 and 1991 in earlier screenplays.[1] In addition to maintaining the Discovery One spacecraft systems during the interplanetary mission to Jupiter (or Saturn in the original novel, published shortly after the release of the film), HAL is capable of speech, speech recognition, facial recognition, natural language processing, lip reading, art appreciation, interpreting and reproducing emotional behaviours, reasoning, and playing chess.

HAL is listed as the 13th-greatest film villain in the AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes and Villains. In the French-language version of 2001: A Space Odyssey, HAL's name is CARL, Cerveau Analytique de Recherche et de Liaison (Analytic Brain for Research and Communication), however, the television camera eye plates still read "HAL 9000".

You collect a lot of toys. You should of keep all those action figures in their boxes. They might be worth money down the road. But ya Gold you should seriously open a museum of computer hardware. Many people would appreciate to see old hardware and see how technology progressed with our amazing human ingenuity. With all those spare parts you have they can be used to teach people about different hardware and show examples on how to build a PC. Just a thought of mine you might like.
