Hi there, as some of you would know, The Voltage read by software isnt always accurate. I have a multi meter and would like to measure the true voltage of my GPU.
My card is a 750ti SC (the single fanned one with no Power Pins) Where do i put my red and black wires to measure the voltage?

Red probe from meter to any one of the 2 circled points. Black probe to ground (screw on motherboard).

Are you certain that this isnt a troll post that will cause some shortage?

Re: Measuring the GPU Voltage with a Multimeter. 2016/05/05 20:54:33 (permalink)
this is interesting. MSI after burner shows 1.156 v while the meter says 1.220v. If increase the core voltage by 20mv, i read only 1.235-1.242v.

edit: i also get very slight differences between using each of the two pegs.

Ok now i know that if i increase the voltage in MSI afterburner, then it really does. dont know why it's giving me false readings

edit: im getting inconsistencies

Simple. It's a software reading.

I can vouch for Sajin. He doesn't troll the forums. He helps out a lot, and is very respected.

As can I. None of the regular forum users would intentionally or inadvertently "cause" you brick your card! This isn't "that forum". Most of us just want to be helpful, although I have honestly seen a few troll posts in the past few days from other users.

I vouch for Sajin as well, since he is one of the best at explaining things here.

As for the software readings, never trust them. Voltage can read 1.212 in some software, while running 1.4v. I tried that on my classified cards, and it proved to be very different voltage readings at times. GPU-Z is getting better about reading the voltage, but it still isn't perfect.

My cards are set to 1.275v at the firmware level, but with a meter they read 0.868v-idle and between 1.275 and 1.293v-full load.
