don't worry, I sometimes have to use the 1.5mb/s economy package on comcast, the only reason I'm on 20+ is because I got a contract sale price at the moment which is $20 a month for 20mbit blast package until December 2011

I have to call comcast every once in a while to check and see what deals they are running

it has its days, but that day(couple days ago) happened to be the worst i've ever seen it.  Right now its running normal again, 33 ping 6.5down .60 up.  Been trying to switch to comcast business for either 16/2 or 22/5 package, just haven't pushed the button.

I'm supposed to be 10 down and .5 up. I don't upload, so I'm very happy.

Got some stuff in a plastic box that's makes my screen turn on when I push the button on the front, cool.

My reading abilities don't fail me.  I noticed before your second post.

What fails me is your logic.  Fast internet is not a good reason to go to college.

Sorry, I am just bitter tonight.  The fact that this thread even exists boggles my mind.  It is like we need a new speedtest thread every three months.  And then we add on idiocy about college being a good place for using the internet.

It was a joke of course I'm here to study, but I was pretty pumped when I got here and found out that the internet was blazing fast. I suppose sarcasm is harder to detect in non-verbal communication.

If I go to Speakeasy, my test seems more in line with what I actually get, and what my ISP states I should get.

I'm pretty sure speedtest.net doesn't give accurate results, they seems just a wee bit "bloated".

Try a test over here: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1 seems no matter what server I use, no matter what company, I'm right at where Rogers caps me, 10 down, .5 up.

Speedtest.net is, well, is, ummmm, I'll just raise the flag and call it a day.

I remember at least once or twice this kind of thread was created. Once it gets buried after so long, it's hard to find it again, and it comes back as new threads. Also I'm sure he was just trying to take a stab at being humerous about the comment on the college having this great internet, and that's the main reason he's there.

On AT&T's U-Verse, paying for the 24MB package.  I don't get the fast spikes of "powerboost" like Comcast, but at least it doesn't kick way down after the first couple 100MB of a large download either.  I get this speed all the time unless I'm DVR'ing something which can knock the speed down a bit due to u-verse being IPTV.  On the faster Internet tiers you have to sometimes share the bandwidth with yourself when you are watching/recording more than one IPTV stream at a time.  All that being said, my apt. complex is supposed to be allowing Comcast in soon and I will jump when that happens just to get a nice cheap deal for 6 month or something.

I don't quite understand how you can deem that "idiocy" when its relevant to the topic.
