After deciding not to take the path last weekend it annoys me to hell that i cant even put up +80mhz and go to dekstop out of bf4 and get a driver crash. Is this something that really is an issue with the cards possibility to overclock? heck I even get these errors on stock clock. I really would like to let the card at least run at 1550mhz, but at current state it seems impossible. I would be glad for an update how to flash it, do i need to clear the drivers, save my bios, flash via nvflash and reinstall drivers then? will there be a bios overclock inside the bios or do i still need to oc via precision x? will I be able to hold the overvolt with air cooling, do I need to adjust the fan curve to keep it from throttling? thanks!"

What bios are you running now?

Hey stx,
I have forgotten all about you I'm sorry. If you pm me an email I can better walk you though the flash procedure and help you gain the best possible overclock.

I want to clear up a few things about custom BIOSes and warranty.  The 980 Classified has three BIOS options.  As long as you leave one of them stock (preferably the first one, for simplicity's sake), you can comfortably flash the BIOS to any custom BIOS and it will remain in warranty.  If you flash all the BIOS chips on the card, that could void your warranty.  If it's an official EVGA BIOS for some sort of fix or improvement (which doesn't happen often), that should not create warranty problems.

Hi Nordicjedi,
Is there a step by step where you can show even with screenshots the 980 classified three BIOS options,which one to leave untouched. Cheers..

"NVFlash980":

Hi, thanks for the share is there a step by step tutorial how to perform these tasks,I have a Evga Gtx 980 classified and I'm not really sure how to go about the flashing process. I was watching a video on youtube and the guy specified not to flash Gtx 980 classifieds reason not know>>!!! so I'm kinda curious before I go ahead and attempt. Reading through the forums I've heard you commenting about tripple BIOS ,OC and LN2 on this card and not to flash BIOS 1. Can you elaborate a bit further as I'm kinda new to all this, thanks in advance.

Regards

LOL you should adjust one at a time core then vram then both together. I'm really disappointed in these cards, should have just got 2 x 980 FTW, which has basically the same over clock for $100 less. I'm gonna try and replace them for ASUS 980 G1 cards as these are garbage for the price. Over clocking is dreadful because precisionX software is broken.

purchasing the FTW's would have been a huge mistake....

Hey bud. This is a simple one. You have a triple bios option. There are three leds on the back of your card.

Green=normal, never change.

Yellow=boost/mild overclocking change, have fun.

Red=ln2 overclocking. change, go buck wild.

There is also labels above the switch on the PCB the say normal, boost, ln2.

The leds are easier, because they are ties directly to the bios positioning switch.

If it is a dual bios card, you have normal and ln2. Same rules apply with leds and changing. The only difference would be one less bios option.
