I'm getting long (greater than 1 minute--I'm used to about 10 seconds) boot times with a completely blank screen after installing my new card. No BIOS message or anything, then eventually Windows loads.

After booting, it seems to be working fine thus far. I flashed to the latest firmware from the forums here. I was initially crashing the drivers but I think that is because I didn't reboot after installing the drivers. Ran a few tests again and they aren't crashing.

It looks like this is a fairly common issue on forums but I didn't see any solutions.

GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 (latest BIOS)
CPU: Intel i5-2500k
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600
Other PCIe Slot: Creative X-Fi Titanium HD sound card

Any thoughts? I'll also submit a support ticket.

Have you tried manually setting your PCI-E lanes inside the BIOS from AUTO to Gen2 or Gen3 to see if it makes a difference? If not, give it a shot.

Hrm... Will see if I can figure out how to get to my BIOS since it's not showing. Maybe swap to onboard video.

Strange solution here seems to work for now...

I now have my second monitor hooked up to my onboard GPU and my main monitor connected to the 970. It uses the iGPU first (that is set to main instead of letting it go auto--if it decides PCIe should be the main monitor, I get the long boot times), so I get the BIOS screen and things load quickly, then once Windows starts, I get the main monitor.

This can probably work fine for me because I only use the second monitor for simple stuff (websites, Netflix, etc). Still weird.

    Update

Uninstalled drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode then installed only the graphics driver and PhysX (no 3d or audio) and I can boot with the GTX 970 as my primary boot display device. No more black screen and multi-minute wait to boot.

Thanks for the support responses (email), EVGA!
