Anyone Folding with a 4090 or 4080 24/7?  Just wondering if anyone had problems with the 12VHPWR connector burning.

I have not damaged connectors any on my 4090 & they are OC

I do strap/ ziplock the PCIe cables to make sure there is not any stress on that 12VHPWR

FYI, they are monsters @ getting points, more than double 3080Ti & 3090Ti ppd

Yo Cool G Thanks for the quick reply. Just the info I was looking for
1080's are the latest cards I have. Gonna try my luck purchasing a 4080 super or
eventually settle for a couple of 4070 ti's which appear to fold pretty well

Like CoolGTX said the 4000 series are great folders. I have been folding on a Gigabyte 4080 24/7 with no issues. My first non-EVGA GPU in a long while. I average about 10 Million PPD. The supers should perform a bit better, and might even be lower in price.....hopefully. .

4090 are 20 M ppd or better, depends on WU & you need a good pc

No issues with connectors here either (4090).  I have the CableMod cable for EVGA PSUs and, until recently, was using the 90 deg adapter V1.
Just make sure it's fully engaged and don't bend the cable too close to the connector.  I second the use of zip ties mentioned above.

Thanks Opolis. I remember the days of running an SR2 with quad 580 sli's pulling high amperage with no consequence lol.

4090 is more efficient and lower wattage.
Just make sure to leave the connector locked in to the video card.
Removing it unnecessarily shortens the connection lifespan.
That is why the utubers would be waving the card around with the adapter hanging out of the top of the card...not removed.

Just  some info, the 4070Ti Super is running at 2.8ghz and seems to be doing 13.4 million PPD using around 200 watts.

BTW this is my first card I purchased not from EVGA. If EVGA was still selling cards and it was only Intel Arc cards I would have bought that instead lol.

    Depending on the WU..
    My 4090's average 20m+ppd at 380Watts
    (16mppd-28mpd)
    23m ppd average
    cpu crunching adds another 100+watts
    Oh..
    another thing
The newer power supplies have a direct cable connection to the 4090's
Eliminating the 4 into one that comes with the gpu..
I am not going to use the direct connection from the power supply because it will put unnecessary wear on the socket in the gpu, if you ever want to re and re the gpu.

Each card will be different as to where it can fold consistently at.  Some cards can only do stock speeds, others might go +50Mhz or even +100Mhz on the boost clock.  With my 4070 Ti currently at 2790Mhz boost (+50MHz on MSI Gaming X trio 4070 Ti - fans at 100%), I'm working a 18218 work unit (just started up) at about 38 - 39 seconds per frame - that works out to around 13.5Mppd, if it stays stable...  current temp fluctuating between 59C & 61C, so temperature won't be an issue.

This boost clock overclock is working out nicely on my 4070 Ti !!!  No failed work units, highest recorded GPU temp is 63C, and in the day that just ended, the GPU cranked out 14,951,536 points.  More points in 1 day than I made in 5 years when I was folding for Maximum PC.  Of course back then there was no GPU folding, or even bonus points....

    Mayday mayday...

Finally got my new rig up and running. Asrock Z690 Aqua, 13700k, 4090 TUF OC, Win 11 64 bit Pro.

Fired up FAH. Set all the normal settings Plus added the flags below.

    Added the flags:
    Name client-type
    Value advanced

FAH Cause Preference set to High Priority. Folding power at Full.
Darn I must be doing something wrong. All I am getting is 18219 WU's at an average of 2.2 mil ppd.
    All Temps good.

Any suggestions my OG brothers lol.

Stand down Boys. Chuck it up for FAH for dummies. I went back to check and yup kick me in the nutz, I noticed no bonus.
I forgot to save the passkey. I looked at it before and it said "valid entries match". Just triple checked it and noticed the entries were blank.
I fixed it and an now getting 24 mil ppd at 330 watts. I may try undervolting.

I'll will still submit this post just for learning purposes and maybe some may get a laugh out of it. Like my daddy said "Even monkeys fall out of trees" haha.

Is that 330 Watts total system power? or just GPU power?

My system power is running about 352W at the wall per Kill-A-Watt meter, thanks in large part to my power hungry 13900KS.  According to HWmonPro, my GPU peak power is 258.24W on my 4070 Ti with a +50Mhz overclock which boosts both my ppd and oddly enough my ppd per Watt, 56,929ppd/W???

Yep, set card back to stock speed, and peak GPU power actually went up to 259.0W  reducing GPU ppd/W to 56,762 - actually probably a bit more than that since ppd will also drop slightly at stock speed.  Hasn't affected card cooling either, GPU temp still peaking at 63C at stock speed, so not seeing any down-side with the overclock so far.  Gonna try +75Mhz now.

Total system power is 500 watts at the wall per kill-a-watt meter. CPU at idle.

Forgot to mention, my CPU is downclocked to 3.6Ghz all cores with a 100W power limit through Gigabyte Control Center.  I only let it run free when I'm video editing!

At +75MHz overclock, peak GPU power only went up to 159.67W, less than 1W increase, but temp hit a new high of 66C, and advanced control indicates about 100k - 200k ppd increase (less than 1.5%) which is basically margin of error...

I'm going to try & keep it going till I hit 500M points, but outside temps may get to hot before I reach that milestone.
