SO I went and downloaded Precision X1 and installed, but am having difficulty using it..
I have a 4080 and when I go to scan, I get a little box that says :

and the test result "Fail" is highlighted in purple.
Can someone tell me what is going on?
I have overclocked many times in the past, but this is my first with Precisionx1.
Am I missing something?

I'm guessing the scan function doesn't work with the 4000 series cards. I would suggest manual overclocking instead.

So it is basically like any other OC program with manual adjustments? Is there anything that makes it stand out above others?
Manual adjustment isnt showing any activity  on CPUID  or other monitoring program

    Yes. Nope.

Sounds like the app may not be working with your card. Try running a stress test to see if your clocks have changed.

Does over clocking no longer push to max and only open up the possibility when the power is needed? Cuz Im expecting a balls to the wall when I click go.. Last card I clocked out was with afturbruner and it was a 2080, and it just went to the max after pushing apply.

The card should run at its max clock when there is an actual load put on it. Idling on the desktop you shouldn't see it running at max.

So far something like those little switches of silent and gaming mode, do those really matter then?  I switched to gaming mode (just found my card has it on it) and it did a small OC and is running at max even on desktop with nothing going..
Is silent mode that doesnt do the OC better than balls to the wall all the time? and just manually touch the juice up as needed?

Silent mode most likely has no oc while keeping the fans silent, and has a lower power target. Gaming mode most likely has a small oc applied along with having the fans running at a fixed speed 24/7, and you’ll get a bump in your power target too. You’ll most likely get your best oc’s using gaming mode as cooler temps, and higher power targets will help you get the most out of the card.
