Hi everyone :)
I bought a used 1080ti SC to assembled a render machine
The guy told me already there was some issue with artifacs while playing but not overheating
I repasted the GPU with Grizzly.
I keep the thermal pad original.
Because my PSU is a 500w NOT MODULAR I bought a SATA to 8 PINS adapter, which I think can lead some problem
The PSU have a 6-8 pins (the one with 2 pins detachable) on it so i put the 8 pins from SATA adpater and I connected the 6 pins from PSU
Until I was in desktop remote and using the Microsoft driver adapter was fine
Really low temperatures (21 degree)
When I attached to a screen begin to have really weord artifacts and freeze with the classical green line from overheating.
Infactt was really hot
I unplugged i let it cold and after I try again
Was good until i haven't update the driver
Again the same thing
So I think the OC factory is too much, also I don't need it, I need CUDA CORES not mhz so I could underclock without any problems
My question is could be overheated because the SATA-8PINS adapter?
I ordered a molex to 6 to be more sure, but you think I could have done some damage?
I have also ordered new thermal pads in case
Thanks

Yes  with the X1 software manually i put at 100% from the begin
The 2 time was really hot there was not X1 installed

So could be a combination of 2 things, psu and stock bios
There is a bios can replaced the stock one?

    A small update.
I registered the card and request the bios.
In the meantime I see there is the same bios shared with differents setup by differents evga 1080ti.
I checked the FE and seems is not overclocked even if I read people have flashed the 1080ti SC with the bios of the 1080tiFTW3 with great results
Temperature now is at 23/25 degree and changed the psu give me now stability.
But I have still artifacts and anyway I running at the 90%

Please do not use a SATA to 8-pin adapter.  SATA is the worst option you have.  At least use 4-pin molex to 8-pin adapter instead of SATA.
