Sweet this is gonna keep me in the green by golly:) I was thinking of red been using EVGA forever. the 1080 isn't quite enough for a consistent 90 fps in 3440x1440. Looky a double upgrade monitor and card soon coming I can't wait.

My daughter gave me a suction cup LED for my gaming monitor so I could see where the sites would be. You know that dang thing burned a circle in the middle of the 120hs screen . Gong from 23 inch to 34 is gonna be the bomb

So maybe I'll be able to raise my KD in BF1 up to .45

The only problem with step up is you can wind up with a lesser card. I'm gonna do the iCX upgrade, but my card is an FTW and not interested in a lesser 1080Ti variant.

Out of curiosity, what you mean by 'lesser'. The Ti would the a 'greater' variant.

I mean that the design is physically bigger with 100mm fans and a larger heatsink to match. The base models are all smaller. Only the FTW and Classified have the bigger pcb. Since they don't usually offer those variants as step up options, I have a hard time pulling the trigger, especially since we don't have performance numbers yet.

In such context, you are referring to reference PCBs.

Yes, I wanted the larger fans for my system. The larger fans sound much better than the ones on my 970SC. All I need to do now is find our if my CPU or GPU is bottleneck ingredients my games. That and the actual price difference for step up.

Last year I was not able to buy a gtx 1080 2+ months after launch because EVGA was always out of stock... At first it was frustrating, but then I had to go on a series of business trips.. Now I look back and I'm happy EVGA couldn't take my money.. Because in 3 days, 19 hours and 45 minutes from now, the 1080 Ti will most likely be launched/announced..

Could anyone tell me how the step up process works as I have never done it.  Say they announce the card on the 28th , will I be able to put in a step up claim at that point?  Will it run out of stock, I gotta worry bout spaming the F5 button and what not?

Step up you are put in a line, sometimes a very very very long line. Once EVGA starts selling them, and they are added to the stepup, and you are within your 90 day purchase window, you can apply. Once they are ready to send you your card/s, you ship yours back in original factory condition minus all extras. So if you added an after market cooler, take it off, and put the stock back on.

Just because it is announced, doesn't mean you can put in a claim. EVGA needs to add it to the step up selection. Could be the same day it is launched, could be the next day.
Will it run out of stock, doesn't work like that. Like I said, you are put in a line. Never bothering with it my self, I have heard of people waiting over 3 months.
No need to spam F5 because it is a queue based situation.

I see, well I bought my 1080 just 2 weeks ago with intentions of upgrading to a 1080 ti, or at least having the option to.  So hopefully I will have the option to if it's worth it.

Sometime after there is an official announcement of even a vanilla 1080Ti from EVGA? Right now we don't even know if this will be a Nvidia exclusive or sold by partners like EVGA.

Hope this card does not suffer from the same low GPU usage also random stutter. (Latency problems) as the 1080.

I have a 1080 FTW Hybrid, with all other parts top of the range. (No Bottle Neck). And had this problem with many games .

My old GTX 980 ti, ran some of my games much better.🤔

Asus X570 Dark Hero, Ryzen 5900x, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 3600mhz, RTX 3090 FE, 500GB Samsung 980 Pro, BX500 Crucial 2TB, Be-quit 500DX, Corsair AX1000, Razer Basilisk U, Asus Scope TKL Deluxe, ASUS PG279QM G-SYNC.

It probably won't be 12GB, but 10. It'll surely be overclocked and superclocked and so on. It should be faster than the Titan X Pascal if it's overclocked, but it may also be about the same. It should be cheaper than the Titan though. I'm guessing $899.99.

I'm more interested in Volta, but that's a ways off.

Why would they put emphasis on the TI in TIME if it wasn't a TI release?

Nvidia has been doing the standard release and then a TI release the following year since the GTX 780. I really doubt they would suddenly change their pattern now.

has there been any precedence to expect a 1080 ti FTW inside the Step up program? AFAIK you can not step up to FTW cards, but i have not been following that program for long enough know for sure.

That there is no cross shipping option is a big negative as well, i don't really want to spend a week on integrated graphics... not if i throw that much money at them.

The ftw will not be on the list, unless there is some extreme circumstance. Typically, it never goes on the list.

I know this isnt the answer you want to hear, but grab a cheap 1050 or something used, to hold you over. Just keep it in the desk so you always have it.

Theyre making it hard not to double down, but you know theyre gonna stamp that thing limit one per household here.

I think they saw how AMD undercut Intel so wanted to make sure the pricing would be competitive with their offering coming up.

Volta will undoubtedly be a beast when it drops too,  it has to be now that there seems to competition coming back around and a resurgence in the PC market.

They didnt limit the titan x to one per household or the 1080.. where do people get these incredibly random ideas
