Hello,
I have been getting this horrid screen tearing when i am watching videos on youtube. I do not notice it when i am gaming though, either that or i am too busy gaming to notice.
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 06G-P4-4995-KR 6GB SC+ GAMING w/ACX 2.0+, Whisper Silent Cooling w/ Free Installed Backplate Graphics Card  This is the Video Card i have. I was wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it. I have been going in under Nvidia control panel and changing my vsync settings to on, adaptive etc from the default let 3d decide. So far none of them are helping the cause.
It's a new build pc as of dec 2015 so little over a year old. I just want to make sure this card isn't going to start getting worse and worse.

Also i have noticed with this card that it will all of a sudden make the screen go dead. At first i thought my pc was just rebooting itself and not coming back up from boot and i ended up corrupting my windows by hitting the reboot button too many times. TURNS OUT that there is a problem with my card. Every now and then it does that screen thing and i noticed that if i unplug the HDMI 2.0 cable from the back of the card and then plug it back in the screen comes back on. I have no idea what the deal is with that either.

Would really like to get both of these cleared up.

Solution to screen tearing in youtube video... Make sure you're using a windows theme that has windows aero enabled. The windows aero fix only works on windows vista/7.

Try a different hdmi cable to try and resolve the screen going dead issue. Try reproducing the screen going dead issue on other outputs if a new hdmi cable does not resolve the issue.

Out of curiosity, what version of Nvidia drivers are you using? I ask because I remember something about an older set of drivers that had problems with YouTube playback causing screen tearing issues.

I had exactly the same problem with my 980ti Classified.  I installed EVGA Precision XOC and found my vid card was running hot at 60 C so I set my fan to run things cooler.  Now it runs at 30 C and I have no problems.  I also changed my CPU cooling fan from air to an AIO from Corsair I think.  The CPU wasn't running that hot to begin with.

brcromer, as to my card its fans are never on. They kick on when i boot up the system and  when i play games but watching youtube videos is hardly stressful for a card i would think and even if it was stressful why aren't the cards fan kicking on? I'm sitting here looking and posting on the forums and the card fans aren't even spinning. I can barely hear my case fans but i can see them working.

ACX coolers don't spin the fans up until 60c is reached.

Try running the default windows theme to see if it makes a difference to the youtube video screen tearing.

Also try a different web browser to see if it helps correct the youtube video screen tearing.

Have you tried different web browsers? Could be a problem with your browser not the card.

    Glad you figured it out!

I thought Nvidia had fixed the screen tearing issues with their drivers and Firefox.

You can turn off hardware acceleration in the Firefox browser to keep using it if you like it more than Chrome - it should fix that problem (hopefully).
