As the title says my GPU is running a bit warmer than it used to and I have not the slightest clue as to what the culprit is. As an example the highest it used to go while playing Overwatch, as of a few weeks ago, was 67C-68C, yet recently it's been getting up to 80C-85C. The fan profile is the exact same as I've had it since I can remember and the fan itself still runs like it always has. I've done everything I can think of such as dusting off the heat sink and even going as far as replacing the thermal paste without either really making a difference.  One thing that has changed is the fact that I didn't use it much for a couple of weeks as well swapping it in an out of my current PC into a new one, but I ended up putting it back in my current PC in the end. Currently I'm using my new PSU, but my temperature issue also showed up on my older PSU when I swapped the system between my two cases (it's back in the normal case now). Any ideas as to what I can try would be greatly appreciated.

As a recap I've done the following...
• Dusted off the GPU
• Applied new thermal paste
• Reinstalled Nvidia drivers
• Reseated PCI-E power cables

Sounds like the pcb/cooler may be warped. Which 680 do you have?

I have the FTW+ 4GB with a backplate included so I don't know if that would or could even be an issue, but at this point it could be anything.

Update: Well for now I'm just using the lowest possible power target of 78% to keep the temperature down closer to normal and it seems to be working fine. At a power target of 100% the GPU hits 87C in Overwatch and setting it down to 78% it sits at 73C instead.

Many don't take into account their ambient room temperatures. It is Summer after all and it does get warmer inside even if you have AC running. Just a thought. Also keep in mind that the GTX-680 does begin to throttle its Core Clock at 70°C which was always a problem for me. Installing a Swiftech H220 and having the air blow down onto my top 680 raised the temps enough to have it reach 76°C and the air from the H220 was only warm not hot.
