Experience with EVGA RMA re-certified cards?

I purchased my video card on July 15 and and I didn't actually use it until 2 days ago. It stopped working after 1 day of use but its been over 30 days of purchase. I was 10 days off to get a brand new card from RMA... Now after using the card for less than 10 hours and constant crashes, I sent a RMA which I am assuming I will receive a refurbished or re-certified card. I am extremely disappointed. I have to pay for shipping and also receive a used card. I was never a fan of refurbished items and never will be. Used the card for less than 10 hours, but I was 10 days off from a new one. Its really frustrating. I didn't know I had to RMA within 30 days for a new one as I didn't think my product will be defective within 10 hours of use. My friend has a GTX 960 from MSI and worked like a charm. Other friend has 750ti from gigabyte, worked like charm. I purchased a higher end card and experience problems almost instantly. Extremely disappointed in the product quality of EVGA from my experience. Payed over $400 CAN and now I am getting a refurbished item within 10 hours of use. My whole system is new and now I will be having a used video card with it. It would be nice if you guys shared your experience with EVGA's re-certified cards so I know what's coming.

    I never received a bad recertified replacement board from EVGA. Most often they outperform the defective one that I sent in and always look brand new. Before you send it in remove the printed sleeve from your box because they'll only send you a plain brown box.

    I bought a re-certified GTX 470 to SLI with one I already had and it outlasted the one had (Lifetime warranty on the one I had too).

    You can call and explain the situation to them and they might agree to give you a new one . I've was in similar situation were I contacted nvidia directly about the card crashing . I didn't start RMA with evga until the 32nd day and they agreed to send me a new one since I started a ticket with nvidia before the 30 days .When it comes to stock EVGA are horrible but their customers service is first class . Give them a call and see what happens. If one says no try a hour latter with a different representative . Some reps just don't want to do the work involved in fixing the situation .

    Probably better since any questionable components on the circuit board have been replaced.

    Well I didn't know about the 30 day thing until I actually build my pc so I don't have any tickets and my RMA started yesterday. I am sending my defective card in tomorrow. Should I still try asking for a new one? Or just give it up and take  refurbished card?

The thing is, I heard that a lot of people received re certified cards that had scratches everywhere and the condition of it just seemed poor. Sure performance might on par at first, but as a re-certified item, I can't help but to think down the road it the errors it once had, will reoccur.

    It worked better than the new one I originally bought from newegg . It did have a few visible white thermal past spots . Other than that it's just like a new one . I would've kept it if I wasn't planning on selling it .

    That's great then. I was expecting a lot worst. I just called in and the representative helped me request for a new one in retail box. Can't lie, but most EVGA's representatives are very nice from my experience even when I don't know how to say what I am thinking properly.

    Cool . You should get an email soon . Even if it's not approved your still good with the re certified one if you plan on keeping the card . The only reason I asked for a new one was because I wanted to sell it . Quality wise the re certified is pretty much good as new .

    That makes me worry a lot less. I read that people got re-certified products that weren't working, but I guess that is just as rare as getting a faulty card in a box.

    Yeah that's the odd case here and there . If Your warranty is 3 years you have nothing to worry about . Anything happens to the re certified card send it back . If you plan on keeping the card for more than 3 years I'd look into getting an extended warranty. It's definitely worth it .

    I do understand your concerns with receiving a recertified replacement graphics card.  I can assure you that all our recertified stock is test and inspected before being sent out as a replacement to a customer. On a side note, currently own a GTX 980 KPE card, which is a recertified replacement and have not had any issues with it.  I will go ahead and contact you directly in order to answer any further questions or concerns you may have.

    Just had my 780ti kingpin RMA'd and got a new boxed replacement so you can get new but guess it may depend on the stock they have also.

    I have had a few warranty replaced cards 580 and 670 and each time they were minty condition in a generic EVGA box.
    Having that new card feeling is understandable though
    If you get a replacement that has any issue then they will most certainly make it right.

    My experience with EVGA RMA was painfree.
     
    I had a GT 640 which I used as a jackaround card. Well whatever went bad with it and I had to guest RMA it because I got it off eBay. I sent the old one in, within 3 days I had another shipped back out.

    I have not have good luck with evga rma.  In my personal experience, the first rma replacement has always been broken. 
    The actual support has been decent except for when they play the blame game.
     
    2012 - original 8800gt bad fan.  Was upgraded to a gts450.  First card arrived broken, 2nd&3rd lasted a few months.  I was wrongfully blamed for all of the problems.
    Had to swap out / troubleshoot hardware and heavily complain to get a 4th card - which is still working today in the original system that was blamed for all the problems.
     
    2015 - z87 classified motherboard.  Issues with bottom pcie slots / plex chip / sli.  First RMA motherboard arrived with scratches and broken front panel mic.
    Haven't sent it back yet but the list of things broken on it are growing by the day, problems that the first board didn't have...also currently being blamed for all the problems.

    Depend of problem, they could not blame you for crash and driver stop responding...
    And until you post video, if they like to 100 people googling their cards on You tube read about problems.
    If you have problem with Superclocked that will reflect with all Superclocked models when someone search information, Fault Classified for Classified, Fault K|NGP|N for KP Edition, Hydro Copper for all Hydro Copper series.
    Easiest way is to put cell phone 1 min and save problem.
