Considering removing the green color on the reference cooler and wanted to make sure it would not hurt my card warranty.

You want to remove green GeForce fonts?
Yes, you will not have warranty after that.
Except if you have money to pay for another original cooler and replace if you need to RMA.
Why you want to remove that... It's not some bad childish sign, look cool.

Its just a little green paint. Didn't think removing it would hurt the card warranty. It makes it white once removed.

Have a read in the warranty section  http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/ If you have any questions it's better to call them directly and see what they say. I think removing the paint will void the warranty ... but you could always buy a replacement cooler to have on hand ( just in case )

This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of the Product by the Purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover:

    • Scratches, dents or cosmetic damage(s) caused to the product.

Your warranty would be very hurt. Not entirely dead, but injured to the point that you'd be charged for a replacement cooler if you sent in the card.

    I'd say yes.
If you RMA, they're going to look for any reason to not to throw money away on a product they've already sold, and if they are having to throw away money, they're going to be as efficient about it as possible. So if the tech on duty the day your card passes through isn't in the best mood and sees that he can't take the otherwise good shroud and stick it on another card for refurb because you scraped off the paint....

Unfortunately as previously mentioned, any type of modification would not be covered under warranty and would be charged for the damaged shroud if received with the paint removed.

Would it be fine for him to put some black electrical tape or something over it?

You will be fine putting something over it as long as nothing is damaged in anyway.

Just plastidip over it. That way you can do what you want color wise and it's still removable without leaving damage.

I like white LED too most of all, but green fonts will not look bed with white LEDs.
I read somewhere maybe is even possible to change color of that LED with software.
This is mod and with this you will destroy warranty but you will have white LED...
But I think if inside case is white LED, than red or green fonts could look better than white...
That's logo of some firm and I think Intel should be blue, NVIDIA green, etc...
Because I'm not sure how can look white LED in case in white LED on card, probably better if inside case is not to much White LED light.

I would keep green fonts GeForce GTX in case with 2 White LED fans.

Basically, as long as you can restore it to factory condition should you need to RMA it, you should be okay. That means electrical tape to cover LEDs is fine. In terms of Plastidip, as long as you can peel it off without damaging the card in any way, it'd likely be okay.

Out of curiosity... How much would a "damaged" shroud, such as this, cost us were we to RMA the GPU back to EVGA?

This would be determined when the card is examined by the RMA department when we have the card in hand. Unfortunately, we don't have any estimate until we have the card.

Understood.  Perhaps EVGA should invest in custom GeForce (and other EVGA-centric) illuminated logos for reference coolers like they have done with custom SLI bridges. :)

Well you can just turn the leds off if you want, i meant if you want a different color other than green. Prob just buy another cooler off ebay and swap the geforce light strip.

Yeah, that looks pretty awesome. Some manufacturers are starting to do better but still.. Like the 980 ti hybrid is pretty ugly in comparison. If it had an all black shroud with maybe a smoked acrylic evga cutout on the side of the card facing the case window that the end user could fit an led into it would look a lot better and probably not be much more expensive from a materials standpoint. Maybe someone could 3D print a custom shroud.

The smoked acrylic shrouds look awesome. The old 8800 cards had those with a really classy, understated graphic on them. Id love to see a newer reworked version of that.

Why does the description for the new bridge say it lights up on select GPU`s I hope to God it will light up with the 2 980 Ti SC I ordered, why wouldn`t it work on all the Ti`s ?

It should work with your 980 ti's, however, under the compatibility tab on the webpage you linked it has no 980 ti's listed as compatible.
