hey, im having some problems with my gpu clock !
i have NVIDIA PALIT GFORCE 660 2B retail and my main GPU clock should be at 980 mhz without boost, although, i've recently noticed that my clock is at 324mhz and also my memory at 324(and it should be 3004) pls if someone can tell me how to fix this problem:)

So your core & memory clocks are stuck at 324MHz when running graphics intensive games/benchmarks? Have you tried performing a proper clean driver install of the latest graphics drivers to see if it helps resolve the issue?

Uninstall EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner or any other graphics card utilities you may have, choosing not to save settings if/when prompted..Then, if you have not already, use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove the NVIDIA Graphics Driver and all the optional driver components in Safe Mode using the Clean and restart (Highly Recommended) option..After restart, perform a Custom (Advanced) install of your NVIDIA Graphics Driver of choice, selecting only to install PhysX along with the Graphics Driver..Restart..Clean reinstall EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner or whatever graphics card utility you use..Go from there.

sry for my delay at answering, but had some time off, ive tried evga precision  and my GPU runs at 1100 (at max) but that also increase my heat, shouldnt it be 980 normal, without any boosting from programms etc??
unistall drivers and install again? how am i supposed to do that safe, without any problems spawn/?? (cause im still learning)

Your card is running normally, no need to re-install the drivers again. Base clock for your card is 980 with a boost clock of 1033, however, GPU Boost 2.0 can adjust your boost clock to higher clocks depending on how cool your card is running to help increase performance. That's why it's running at 1100.

It should run between 980 & 1033 without any help from other GPU utility programs, however, GPU Boost 2.0 could make it run higher if your GPU is running cool.

What game and what resolution? It's normal for the core and memory to run at 324MHz on the desktop at idle.

Could you test the card in another computer to see if it shows the same behavior running in a different PC? Either your card is defective or some software on your system is conflicting with the nvidia drivers causing your clocks to not adjust properly. You may want to try performing a clean boot of windows to see if it helps resolve your issue.

No need to format the computer. Just click on the link above that says "clean boot" and follow the instructions.

And you didn't ask them how exactly they determined that? Did they use a different program to read the clocks? If so, what did they use?

i didnt know what exacly they used, but that  they showed me was the monitor with a strange programm who was reading all the GPU specs and current specs with a strange cyrcle for determitating the gpu's power, all the gpu specs at that moment, and it seemed to worked perfectly
sry for bad english:/
allthough, im thinkg about adding an extra GPU card with my palit gtx660 2gb retail, what gpu it will work fine ? (cause i have been told the gpus have to be very similars)
thx

Re: need some help! 2015/05/24 01:57:41 (permalink)
Your card has a Base Clock speed of 980MHz and an advertised Boost Clock speed of 1033MHz which clocks may actually be more or less, depending on various GPU parameters and GPU Boost and will go into various lower power saving states/clock speeds under low/no load conditions unless overridden by software/driver settings.

Get GPU-Z..Get EVGA OC Scanner..In EVGA Precision, click the Default button and then uninstall EVGA Precision..Go to NVIDIA Control Panel Manage 3D Settings and click Restore to reset all values to what the NVIDIA software/driver shipped with and then Apply and close the NVIDIA Control Panel and restart your PC..Now all settings are back to default and your card is running strictly stock.

Run GPU-Z and go to the Sensors tab and then run EVGA OC Scanner (as is, and not in Fullscreen) while watching the GPU Core Clock and GPU Memory Clock in GPU-Z which should go to full speed..Close EVGA OC Scanner and the clock speeds should soon be reduced to the lower, power saving clock speeds..That's what should happen, does it?

If you want your card to run at no less than the 980MHz Base Clock speed all the time, set Power management mode in the Global Settings tab to Prefer maximum performance and restart your PC..If you want your card to run at no less than the 980MHz Base Clock speed only when running certain games/programs, select from the list, no restart needed.

For adding a card for SLI, see NVIDIA SLI: What Works With What?..For adding a card just dedicated to PhysX, see here.
