Hello. I have a problem connecting the following graphic cards in SLI:
EVGA SC GTX 970 ACX 1.0
EVGA SC GTX 970 ACX 2.0

When I go to the Nvidia Control Panel the option to "Maximize 3D performance" that enables SLI under 3D Settings > Configure SLI, Surround, Physyx is not selectable, and grayed out. All the options in that menu are the same. The radio button for "Disable SLI" is checked, and there is a warning that I should connect via SLI bridge.

Here is the rest of my hardware:
-Asus Z97-A mobo
-Intel i5 4690K 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 processor
-EVGA supernova 750b PSU

I have tried two SLI bridges now (flipped, and on both connector positions). I have them installed in PCI-E lanes 1 and 2. I confirmed these were the correct lanes for SLI via Asus support. I've confirmed that they work independently and in both slots.

I've confirmed via GPU-Z, Device Manager, and Nvidia Control Panel that each is recognized and working independently. And I double checked to make sure they were getting the correct PCI-E configuration, and PCI-E 3.0 16x is enabled.

I'm running Windows 8.1 up to date. Yesterday I flashed the BIOS with the newest version.

I've tried two clean Nvidia driver installs (344.75 and 344.11).

I'm at a total loss of joy over this purchase. I called EVGA and they said it was the mobo. I called Asus and they said it was because the the graphic cards were two different versions (which shouldn't matter anyway since RAM and manufacturer are the same, right?). Called EVGA back and they said that both cards have same device ID in Nvidia Panel so they are the same in the system. Anyone else with a similar setup have this experience?

Thanks in advance!

That's a mighty tiny horse.  People usually refer to it simply as a trojan.  I am not going to speculate whether there really is or is not a trojan in the DifferentSLI code provided.  All I can recommend is that you try something other than DifferentSLI.

The real answer to the question is actually this:
https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59534

If you purchase the wrong cards, in opposition to what that list above recommends, the cards will not function in SLI.  Fortunately, you can contact EVGA and EVGA will usually gladly exchange one of the cards for a different card in order for SLI to work.  EVGA generally requests that you first try exchanging your brand new wrong card with the retailer you purchased it from.

DifferentSLI is a driver hack, is not supported, may quit working at any time when NVIDIA updates its drivers, and you use it at your own risk.  Getting the proper video card from your retailer or EVGA is much more recommended.

It's a false positive. Latest version of differentsli can be downloaded here.

I know this post is old but I am having the same problem with my 1080's sc. I'm currently using an asus ribbon sli bridge until my 1 Slot HB Bridge comes in the mail. Was wondering if there's a similar fix?

Welcome to the forum. It would help if you would give us some more details on your system. Hardware particularly. Motherboard model, and CPU are particularly important. The more information the better. As for your question, I doubt it. It  has not been  updated in many months.

Asus Z97-A MB
i7 4790k
1300 Evga G2 PSU
Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400
Also have the m.2 950 pro nvme connected to a pcie adapter. & I put that adapter on the last slot of course.
It might be the sli bridge so i ordered a msi sli bridge for the 1070/1080 till the HB Bridge's are back in stock.

This is what i got in device manager, both cards run fine on there own..
However i previously had the PCIE M2 Adapter connected in the 2nd pcie slot before I put them in SLI. Wouldn't know if that would cause a problem.

What all devices do you have in your PCIe slots currently? What I'm getting at here is your processor has 16 PCIe lanes.  SLI requires x8 for each GPU. You can't use your third x16 PCIe slot while running SLI.

Just disconnected the the pcie adapter with the ssd & still the same issue. Btw device manager displays this with or without the sli bridge connected.

Just so were are clear, you currently have just the two GPUs installed in the PCIe slots? Even if you upgrade the motherboard, your CPU still only has 16 PCIe lanes. Though they do make boards with a PLX chip to give you more PCIe lanes on the board.

Okay...well personally I'd wait on the new SLI bridge. Have you tried switching which SLI fingers you're using on the GPU's Something else to check too, are you on the latest BIOS for the motherboard?

Haven't tried that but will do when I get back. The new bridge is coming tomorrow so I'll give you an update asap.
Thanks for being a great help.

Update.

Got them to work in SLI, I thoroughly cleaned the PCIE slot and changed the power cable & it seemed to fix the problem.
Your help was much appreciated! Thanks again.

Thanks for the file and the driver info. Im still running in to the problem of not having a nvlddmkm.sys file in my drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times and that file is nowhere.

No problem. Search your C:\ drive for nvlddmkm.sys.
