I messed up the bios on my gtx 570 by trying to edit the fan speed. Nvflash erased the bios and then failed to flash the new one. Whenever I try to flash any bios to the card I get this:

Ok, try flashing with a older version such as 5.142.

Ok, download driver sweeper. Uninstall all the nvidia graphics drivers & software from the system using add/remove programs. Reboot PC. Run driver sweeper 3.2.0, check mark NVIDIA - Display & NVIDIA - PhysX, select Analyse button, if a list of entries pop up select the Clean button, when asked to reboot select Cancel. Do the scan again to make sure all entries are removed/deleted. Shutdown PC. Move GPU to different PCI-E slot. Start PC. Try flashing with both versions.

I did everything except switching pci slots as I no video signal if I try booting off of the bad 570. same error. I'm gonna try reflashing in a different rig and see if maybe that makes a difference. Otherwise I'll have to see how much evga wants to repair it.

Enable iGPU if your system supports it then flash the card.

You will need to find a method to repair the BIOs if it doesn't match the original factory BIOs

I have the original bios. No matter what I try to flash I keep get the 256 error.

What he meant is that EVGA won't touch it if you send it in without the correct BIOS on the card. The missing S/N sticker is a second issue. Basically, if you send it into EVGA, they will just send it right back to you.

All I ever did when flashing a single card was run cmd and type: cd desktop\nvflash_windows_5.165 (then press enter, to run nvflash that's in the desktop folder)
And then
nvflash --protectoff -4-5-6 yourbios.rom (then press enter)
 
Using the iGPU/onboard graphics and having only 1 card it's:
nvflash -i0 --protectoff -4-5-6 yourbios.rom (then press enter)
 
You can use nvflash --list to ID the card and show it's position (<0> or <1>, etc.)..The proper position must be specified if you have more than one card or are using the iGPU/onboard graphics to flash the graphics card..-i0 is for card 1, -i1 is for card 2, -i2 is for card 3..If you're using --index=1 (-i1), that would be for flashing card 2, not card 1.
 
I think you're messing up on the command lines.
