drchoi21 Nice! One question though, is Crossfire Supported?
Many thanks drchoi21 CFX isn't supported as I know of, but HYper SLI is, which goes via AMD's Hyper-V Technology, Hyper SLI is a project a friend of mine from 2CPU.com has been programming for about two years now, he tested it with 2-way & 3-Way SLI with GTX 260 C216's and Quad SLI is working with two ASUS GTX 590's. Here his topic about Hyper-SLI @ TechPowerUp: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/hypersli-enabling-sli-on-non-sli-motherboards.153046/#post-2414995 Here is how he got Hyper SLI working: http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?p=798270#post798270 aryan;798270

http://www.lisamcpherson....o_much_win_graphic.png" />
Next on the test sheet is quad SLI: 2x2, with a total of 3 sli bridges to cross, of which two are real :P And here the most recent updates as Hyper SLI go: http://forums.2cpu.com/sh...hp?p=801524#post801524aryan;801524the certificate is for the motherboard, not for the card. it enables SLI in the nv driver because it indicates the mobo is SLi capable.
more recent info http://forums.2cpu.com/showpost.php?p=801516&postcount=168
older with hypersli http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?p=798270#post798270
and yes, I used the PCIe lanes numbers as mentioned in the SuperMicro manual http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?p=801318#post801318
Here is how he got Quad SLI working: http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?p=801516#post801516 aryan;801516sup all,
With my rig currently under construction for an upgrade it took me some time to get near a PC, so here I am @work typing the reply :)
The thing is, back in the day when GL bought the mobo ( that I bought from him at a later stage, SRY for that RLY ) HyperSLI was a way to get SLI going on non-SLI certified board by injecting an ASUS SLI certificate. With that out off the way there are nowadays several ways to enable SLI on the AMD board.
HyperSLI is one, but also modified drivers with the SLI certificate in it are avaliable at the same site. With that in mind you do need to enable the test driver mode in windows from http://www.ngohq.com/?page=dseo
Keep in mind that SLi likes or rather in surround mode needs PCIe broadcasts and with 2 PCIe bridges in our board it is important to understand that SLI needs to be done on the same bridge preferably, but since the newer all-in-one drivers I found not mandatory in single screen SLI mode.
In other words: I got quad SLI going with one 590 installed on a PCIe lane connected with one bridge and the other with the other 590 installed. But then only in single screen SLI, enabling surround SLI with 3 screens caused a BSOD.
Having said that I use the newest BIOS from the SuperMicro site, different BIOSes in the GTX590 ( that definately a todo )
Having installed 2 590s on the board causes wayyy to much heat, so right now I'm working on an extra case that will have both boards, and at a later stage when possible, 3 GTX590s. the 260 are planned to be placed inside the board without extenders.
Hope it helped ya'll a bit.
aryan
Here his GTX 295 setup, it looks rather awkward, but we hope to change this so you can use the PCI-E slots the motherboard gives :) http://forums.2cpu.com/sh...hp?p=801562#post801562aryan;801562congrats GL ! small teaser for the progress so far here @hq:
But still this project needs lots of support, Aryan has the same exact motherboard as me and we want Hyper SLI working without the need of PCI-E Extenders from Supermicro, so I plan to help beta test this Hyper SLI and make it even better for everyone, I can test Quad SLI with my EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Editions and 2-Way SLI with my upcoming EVGA GeForce GTX Titan SuperClocked Editions But since this will be my render workstation SLI is not really of a must, the Titans will be used more like Quadro's than GeForce cards, the Dual Six-Core AMD OpteronDP 2435 D0 is my main gaming setup, as it has native SLI support, thanks to it's NVIDIA NForce 3600 pro Chipset On November 25 I will order two of these coolers: Noctua NH-U9DO A3 http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=39&lng=en These should keep my OpteronMP 6140 D0's cool at every workload After getting those I can then orientate them so I can determine the correct airflow direction. During or after my birthday which is December 08, I will try and find out what ram sets I should use for this beauty, I hope to find 8x 8GB PC3-12800 ECC Reg Server ram from either Kingston or HP/Micron Then when the ram has arrived the build will be completed and ready for first bootup, the OS of choice is Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 UK + Service Pack 01

Construction has begun!!! Here I have mounted the Supermicro H8DG6-F on the Lian Li TYR PC-X200-B's Mobo tray: Here an angled view, also showing I used black Lian Li thumb screws to mount the H8DG6-F to the Mobo tray, and I did use my screw driver to fasten them properly More pics to come as I continue the construction of this behemoth, so stay tuned Now I am going to uninstall my EVGA GeForce GTX 480 and place the two EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Editions in my main system for use until I get my first EVGA GeForce GTX Titan SC on March 25 2014 The EVGA GTX 480 will be used as main VGA in the new Dual OpteronMP 6140 D0 also until March 25, 2014 also, on that date the first EVGA GeForce GTX Titan SC will replace the EVGA GTX 480, as where the EVGA GTX 480 will replace my GTX 295 RE's into retirement as they will be placed in my VGA table for good. But that is the plan for now

Well there are some updates for this system, Project G34 aka Valkyrie SMP 2014, which I have renamed it to, is almost done now. For X-Mas, from my recently passed away grandmother, I got this new Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X PCI-E 4096MB 512Bit GDDR5 with 2816 Hawaii ALU's :hre: :topmodel: https://www.4launch.nl/shop/product/146701/-videokaart-pci-e-radeon-r9-290x-4gb/tweakers Informatique did have any more they refunded me and advised me to buy the Sapphire R9 290X elsewhere, so I bought my card from 4Launch, they had exactly one in stock, perfect for my needs and only 3 Euro's more expensive, so that was no biggie either xD :D 8) Yesterday I bought the CPU coolers for the two 8 Core AMD OpteronMP 6140 D0 CPU's; which are a pair of Noctua NH-U9DO A3's: https://maxict.nl/product/2898549/noctua-nh-u9do-a3-nh-u9do-a3-hardwarekoeling So now with those parts in Project G34 aka Valkyrie SMP 2014 is almost done!!!! Yesterday the Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X PCI-E 4096MB 512Bit GDDR5 arrived, so here some nice pics All meet: Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X PCI-E 4096MB 512Bit GDDR5 Rev.A12 1312 Top: Rear: Also note the ATI Technologies sticker It seemed that some people didn't make up their mind yet and sticked with ATI Technologies over AMD instead haha xDDD Also showing the PCB Date of 1312 Year 2013, Week 12, as I can't find the PCB date anywhere else, so I took that as PCB Year/Week date reference Headshot: Backplate aka Retention Bracket: R9 290X Bios Switch but no CFX Connectors: Also note the gap which was made for the CrossFireX Connectors, which actually aren't present on this card That gap actually gives room for the CrossFireX Ribbon Cable to connect to the CrossFireX connectors to that part of the Radeon, the R9 280X for example does have the CrossFireX Connectors in place and also that gap Top angled: Power Connectors: Extra Ventilation Shafts: Sapphire R9 290X & Box front: Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X Box front: Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X Box rear: Also note that there is no AMD CGN Mantle API Logo on the box Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X Box headshot: Sapphiretech logo: R9 290X system requirements: And here the Sapphire R9 290X in Valkyrie SMP 2014 Valkyrie SMP 2014 front side: The EVGA Logo is for the EVGA GTX 480, but due to I am using that in my current main system, this is the reason why it's not in this system yet, as it's still waiting on a few parts Valkyrie SMP 2014 side: Here a close up of the Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X PCI-E 4GB Installed!

Many thanks RuffeDK!!!! Yeah it did take longer than I had hoped for, many thanks go to guruofhotrod from 2CPU.com for the great CPU deal of 94 Eur incl shipping from USA to me here in NL and also great thanks go to Aryan also from 2CPU.com for the free system ram gift of 4x 4GB PC3-12800 ECC Reg from HP/Hynix/Samsung Aryan gave me the ram as a thank you for helping him acquire his Supermicro H8DG6-F for a veru good bargain, so yeah 16GB may not be muuch, but it is enough to get started, I plan on adding an other 4x4 GB and 8x 16GB as later system ram upgrades, not much of a worry yet As for the GTX 480 it is a bit too long because now I can't use three of my six SATA II connectors, so I plan to replace it with an EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD, which is a short PCB sized GTX 570, which is as long as a GTX 460/560 class card This way I will still have my 480 Fermi CUDA Cores as well, but with a GF110-275-A1 over a GF100-375-A3, so it will be more silent and it will produce far less heat as well, but no rush with that yet either

I have ram from HP two have Hynix chips the other two Samsung, 4x 4GB DDR3-1600 ECC Reg in total, was a gift from a good friend to which I help obtain a Supermicro H8DG6-F , for 300 euro instead of 700 Euro's hehe, this was about one year ago, as that Mobo went Them CPU's you have are very expensive in my country, you can get two 16 Core Opterons for cheaper and save like 60 euro's or so and still be lots faster SMP wise But I guess that differs per country Anyways what you have built there is really nice man and then so creative too!!! Cool to see something different here at EVGA, I ma always gonna g for a Dual Opteron setup, always mainly due to the reliable experiences they have given me and it's also something different than some 1CPU setup you see almost everyday But yer that's me, each to their own ya know

I got my two 6140's for 127 USD aka 94 EUR from a very good friend, the ram was for free, and the mobo I bought new, I would never buy the mobo for my main build second hand, Iwant the full warranty so I paid 529ish for that incl shipping from Sona.de, Germany; which is here: http://www.sona.de/400390 Btw i left you a +1 and a comment : http://www.modsrigs.com/detail.aspx?buildid=32992#comments Feel free to give me that as well, also post your Supermicro build here and all your others so I can add them in my MR +1 list which I made for Chrome M Dragon & EVGA xD http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/1588237 Normally i never ask for +1's or comments since I don't feel good by doing that, but since many newbies have posted in my thread I might as well do so lol Anyways I removed the EVGA GTX 480, since I don't interest in PhysX & CUDA for this build, so it's 100% AMD now and it runs sooooo nice! Yours and mine are like two prime examples of AMD/AMD 2CPU build and Intel/nVidia with their flagship GPUs inside each machine. alaso they both have same core count and same Base Clock speed (2.6 GHz on the opteron and 2.66 GHz on the xeon)

Hey thanks drchoi21 Well the Xeon X5550 is a 4 Core CPU with 8 Threads, so in total with two of these you have 8 cores, even having 16 threads due to Hyper Threading, this does not mean you have 16 valid cores I have 16 cores / 16 Threads, my CPU's do not have Hyper Threading as they are 8 Core CPU's. Anyway, once you have 2CPU blood in your vanes, you never want to go single ever again, I envy AMD Server hardware as you do with Intel all in all our systems are two beauties indeed. Btw remember them 2CPU.com mugs, I still have mine xD This is what the mug reads:
