I really hope they knock it out of the part with these. I'm looking for a reason to unload my two Asus GTX 680 DC2, which hit and hold 1300 MHz with the stock cooler, and it needs to be a good reason. I was hoping the standard Classified would do it but from what I've seen it can't which is surprising.

I'd WC my DC2s but I need more VRAM.

if you expect these classified to hit 1300mhz guess again. i have 3 and none of them come really close..... i've tested them in multiple systems too. but if you need the vram (surround setup) then it's a good card to pick up, memory will overclock like a champ (2 of mine hit 650+)

That's disheartening to hear. Any idea what's holding them back? Both my DCII Tops hit 1300 MHz  (gaming, benchmarking, etc. stable) on air without voltage modding.

I was thinking of picking up some 4GB cards because I like to crank up the visual quality and can easily fill 2GB of VRAM, on some games, with my current setup at 2560x1600.

Is memory more important than core for GTX 680?  I know past cards, the core was much more important than memory.  I'm wondering how it is now?

well the extra memory draws more power so that could be holding it back a bit. even so if it were a 2gb card it'd probably be only 20mhz difference...if that.

The memory overclock for kepler makes more of a difference than previous generations due the shorter bandwidth, but of course the core matters the most.

I had 580DCII, and that card OC like other stock models, and temps are nothing special with higher OC I can say only around 10-12C less than stock...but my god so ugly card, damn they really know to make ugly card. After that model I swear only card with cooling simiral to stock to blow air out of case.

Maybe you've got a low-binned classified. All the research I've done points to most classified cards being able to exceed 1300MHz on air as long as their fans are set to max.

http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1680827&mpage=1

I thought that my card was gonna be stuck at 1266, but it just took some fiddling and I got it up to 1322 on air without an EVbot.  Included in that test was a guy who refused to take his classy off the stock fan curve  so his result wasn't entirely fair to the card.

For all those waiting anxiously for the HC verions of the classifieds, head to this thread.
http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1755509
The Evbot port is no longer available and will also not be apart of the HC Classified versions. Wanted to give a heads up just in case that was the selling point for any of you.
