Hi all,

I have a EVGA Z170 Stinger
Today I wanted to update my BIOS so I could safely use the 3333MHz XMP profile I have for my RAM. It had version 1.03 installed on it.

I selected the right 1.09 version .bin on my FAT32 formatted USB and it came up with the progress bar then my computer restarted. After that it was stuck on the error code 62, which is (Installation of the South bridge Runtime Services). I left that for an hour just incase it was still flashing then I tried a restart but still no luck. I've tried restarting with the clear bios button but it still gets stuck at code 62.

Are there any other things I could try? Seeing as my hardware worked before the flash makes me think the bios didn't manage to flash correctly.

Many thanks for any help/suggestions

Unplug any SATA Device USB Device other then a KB that you will plug in to the USB 2.0 Port on the I/O Panel.
Press and Hold the Small Red Button (On the I/O Panel) as you Turn on your Computer and Hold for 5 or 6 seconds.
This should set the Default back to Factory Settings or the Default Settings. If this works then try and update your Bios. Download
Remember that before you try to update any Bios set the Bios back to the Default Settings as stated here: View

You should use this method: (Use one of the USB 2.0 Ports on the I/O Panel to load the file from.

My Rules of flashing a BIOS

    1)  I never flash a BIOS unless I'm on a UPS, wrong time for a power interuption

    2)  Never turn OFF a system that failed to flash correctly - that is the kiss of death for the BIOS

I have a question though, is the motherboard serial number on these BIOS chips?
Just for windows 10 authenticating etc
