This was one powerful gas explosion.

    Wow. That is seriously quite the explosion.
     
    Edit: lucky it was so late, that'd have been much worse at rush hour.

    Yea... fortunate for this crazy thing to happen at night. Hopefully no one got hurt.
    Was there a cause found for this to happen?

    From what i read there was a contruction site leaking a gas into the sewer system.  the fire department was spraying water down into the sewers to try and disperse the concentration as many people were reporting the smell but obviously it wasn't enough.
