How about the ever escalating prices on hardware, specifically GPU's. I suppose we have progressed in performance, it just seems a tad bit out of control. Seems like that's the price we pay for not much competition.

We've talked about it many times. We need AMD to come out guns a blazing!!!

Yeah, except AMD keeps turning up to the gunfight armed with a knife.

Discovering there is no CPU in the sealed box you just bought! Luckily the place I purchased checked their stock and someone had taken them all in that particular series then resealed the packages.

Wish they would just up the pci to 175watts from the current 75watts per 16x lane, and do away with pcie cables....

And this is why I buy business-class laptops. Had multiple Dells, and only need to remove 1-2 screws to access the HDD.

What annoys me about building a PC? Not much these days. People make it out to be a chore, but compared to the "olden times", it's dead simple for the most part. You no longer need three ribbon cables to install two hard drives. Heck, nothing even uses ribbon cables at all now (remember when the "in" thing was rounding your IDE cables? ). Can't plug the PSU into the motherboard backwards. No jumpers for overclocking, or setting IRQs. No tubes of caterpillar chips to upgrade your RAM.

However, the one thing that annoys me? Even with all the unification in PC architecture, you have to choose a board based on the CPU brand. I miss the Socket7/Super7 days.

Hm, biggest peeve is investing & building a new rig, and discovering all the bugs or issues with the BIOS/UEFI. Like the UEFI not listing what the default CPU VID/voltage is since those vary by chip.  Another example is ASUS has a quickboot selection menu on the very first UEFI screen, but this doesn't actually show all drives compared to the list shown under the boot section deeper in the UEFI.

So much this. I thought a motherboard tray with cable routing cutouts out have designed enough room back there for cables but that wasn't the case with mine.  Thought I'd build a proper clean rig to show off, then had to give up on most cable management with my current build.

How about an aftermarket cooler?

My mobo has an opening in the back under the CPU thats uncovered, but the mount still wouldnt fit. Had to clip off the AMD parts to get it to fit.

^ This & what someone else said about ten year old computers and also getting a new system up to date seems like it takes forever

The thing that annoys me the most when starting a build, is to find parts that match together when you build in a case with a window.
The last couple of years really have been a (Deleted for inappropriate Language) to find hardware that both performed and looked great, and didn't had kinds of different colors that the manufacturer forced down on you.
I think that the best would be a more or less colour neutral piece of hardware and then with LED's to make up the color scheme, so the consumer can decide what color they want.

Lol. And then to find it stopped 3/4 of the way through because there was an error reading the drive. In this case, Teracopy (free) is very useful.

The ever changing terminology with each new generation of architecture.  I am someone who does not update mobo and CPU very often at all, and it's so frustrating when you master your bios for overclocking, and by the time you upgrade again, nothing is the same.  You have to learn a whole new language again if you want to OC.

Did the users say not to buy any EVGA products or did they just recommend checking out other companies products that might have better/more features?  I fail to see how that would be annoying when building a new system.

What's wrong with trying to give users more information to consider, before purchasing hardware they might use for 5+ years.

I can't think of one company that makes computer hardware or peripherals, that i like every product they make.
