It crashed again but i got to play a good hour at medium setting, What i dont understand is that im getting 80fps to 100fps at medium and at high i get around 60to80 and it crashes. Why can this be?

Are you maxing your VRAM & system RAM while playing?

how can i check wile playing?

You can use EVGA Precision X to check your VRAM usage and use windows task manager to check RAM usage, you will need to run task manger in "always on top" mode to your RAM usage while inside the game, you can change task manger into "always on top" mode by selecting the options menu inside task manger. Make sure to select the performance tab inside task manger to monitor RAM usage.

well i ran the game and task manager and wile playing the game it shows in free memory 0, Available 1597, Cashed 1718, total 6135. The thing is where is the rest of the ram?. I think i need more ram right?

I'll lookup some ram for ya. What is your budget? You need to check your VRAM usage with Precision.

Looks like you're in need of an upgrade. RAM + GPU's. Here is some RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231358

If it works with one GPU, then it probably means the other one is bad. Try just using the other 480 and see if it still crashes. I highly doubt a 480 isn't enough for this game. My friend can play BF4 on his laptop which has like a 640M with 1 GB of VRAM, so I'm pretty sure a 480 can run it.

VRAM usage increases with higher game settings and resolution. The game in surround and higher setting will easily hit 3g. Just run the precision/afterburner monitor in the background while playing full screen, then exit out of game to see what the VRAM usage was.

W7 Pro 64, MSI X99A Godlike , I7-6850K, EVGA GTX 1080 Ti, G.Skill DDR4 3200MHz 32GB, Samsung 960 EVO 1TB M.2 and 850 EVO 1TB SATA, WD Velociraptor 1TB, Corsair AX1200W, Acer Predator X34 and Oculus.

Try playing the game in borderless window mode with SLI enabled and see if it stops the freezing. Please report back.

Here are the settings you should try.

Set everything to medium except for AA post and AA deferred, leave those OFF.
Set the game to Borderless Window mode with Vsync ON.
Leave Aero Glass enabled in Windows 7 (if you disable aero glass you will get screen tearing with Vsync on)

guys i think bf4 is the cause of the freezing because bf3 at ultra settings uses all the gpu ram and it runs good and it doesn't crash at all.

TL;DR

try setting in game audio from surround to stereo, that fixed my crashes.

Re: Battlefield 4 freezing my pc 2014/07/16 05:49:04 (permalink)
Same here...................

35-minutes play.............Crash Re-boot .......40-minutes play.........Crash reboot ........1 hour play.....Crash reboot ................... on Battlefield 4.

I have EXACTLY the same problem with BF4 after a recent update (July 2014).
But it also co-insides with a Battlelog ban from a Pink Panty Mod (After I complained about being booted for not knowing all the weapons/rules when in-game [we/you are expected to have a photographic memory of nuanced weapon rules])..

My specs are:- Zalman Vented case.
Asus Z87 Sabertooth (latest BIOS Drivers/Chipset etc)..
Haswell i7 4770 (unclocked); with CNPS14X Zalman Big cooler.. High-end thermal paste.. Extra fans.
850W Platinum PSU..
Stock GTX 780 (no overclock)..
16Gb A-Data 1866 Ram running standard..
Samsung 250Gb SSD Evo.. (plus 3 x 1Tb hard drives for 1) Games. 2) Files 3) Other software/Documents (which would ALL have to be re-installed [100-to-200 hours work for me] due to complex links to Windows all fifty games would have to be re-installed to get the links all working again and all the MODS for various games would have to be re-installed).
Windows 8.1 Pro (x64) with Media Center (fully updated)..
No dodgy software.. (mostly Origin/Steam/Uplay)

ALL OTHER (50~) GAMES HAVE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.

Only re-boots with Battlefield 4; usually when I am doing fairly well. I thought someone in game might have a virus that can crash your PC if you kill them (but that is peeve paranoia) ..
I thought it might be a snotty Mod filling my PC with a re-boot virus or something. But thats also just paranoia..

Did anyone find a fix.... ??
I already tested my RAM memory; and have no problems with anything else (except Firefox seems to have a few issues sometimes crashing.....); but dont know if thats as a result or cause of the problem....???
I keep sending reports to Firefox over the weeks but they never respond.

Never mind I see you got it sorted .I installed jetclean ,scanned and repaired .Then in jetclean in tools system startup stopped most programs starting with windows .Validated bf4 game files in origin , disabled all sound drivers that are not being used in device manager.Last but not least clean out graphics card and keep eye on temperature , sometimes card will overheat and produce stuck screen with or without audio bootloop usually 2 to 3 minutes into game .Now have no trouble , got it release day and could not finnish a round untill week or 2 ago .....roughly 160 bucks with premium so didnt want to give up with it , Was frustrated with bf4 for a long time :-)

I'm playing on the low setting and it hasn't crashed any thoughts?

then could be lack of video ram for higher video settings
