I noticed the current listing of the 970 back plate compatibility leaves out the newest 3975-KR model ACX card, which I just bought yesterday for SLI with my current 1972-KR. Is it safe to assume it *is* compatible with this back plate? Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find it mentioned here previously. Also, just a shot in the dark, but what are the odds of another free back plate promotion with a purchase? I will say however that with the current two free games promo, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth...thanks EVGA!

Have you tried SLI'ing your 1972 model with your new 3975 model yet?  I ask because I'm not sure they will SLI with the changes made from the older model to the new...

Yes and they work perfectly! I was worried about problems due to the updated design and speeds, but I have them both overclocked to the same speed through precision. Some tech sites like Toms Hardware have reported problems on the 900-series and using different manufacturer cards/speeds. The main reason I got a second card was for Project Cars and racing in the rain at 1440p...it was horrible on a single 970...dipping down into the 40s. Now the race sim never gets below 60fps no matter the amount of traffic and rain. Other heavy hitters like Crysis 3 are off the chain now too. Couldn't be happier.

Also it is interesting watching the performance difference in GPU-Z with the two cards when under load. That new ACX cooler runs 12C cooler than the reference blower cooler. Amazing. I really need a back plate though as it is drooping some what.

Edit: I will also add that I wasn't used to that new card not spinning up the fans when cool even with a custom set fan profiles. Scared me at first when I looked in GPU-Z and saw 0% RPM.... =8-o

Glad to hear they work good together...  Happy gaming!

Yeah, it's nice maxing out the settings of Crysis3 and maintaining over 60 FPS so easily.

You need this back plate. http://www.evga.com/Produ...aspx?pn=100-BP-3973-B9
There are 2 back plates the one I listed above for your GPU and the FTW+ and the other one that fits your old GPU number and all the others.

Ah thanks zophar! I was searching wrong apparently. If I come across any issues with these two different cards in SLI I'll post about it. So far, no problems.

No problems in any games yet or benchmark tools like Unigine's Heaven 4.0. Desktop screenshot (left GPU-Z is the new card [GPU1], right one is the older card [GPU2]...note exact same core and memory max speeds as well as GPU1 ). Screenshots of Autosport before SLI and after. All I did was drop it in, clean the driver slate and install fresh 350.12 (was running 347.88), and run through the Nvidia control panel configs. Have others reported issues on this exact combo? I'm either very lucky or nobody has done this exact combination of cards. Need to get an EVGA bridge to finish it off.
