Just received my 980ti from the step up program.. Unfortunately its at stock speeds. Can I safely flash the gpu with the SC's version of this gpu? if so, how? Or should I just OC it manually? Thanks!

Use software overclocking such as Precision X and don't try to flash your video card BIOs.

You cannot flash another models BIOS on your model. This will very likely brick your card and void your warranty.
However, you could flash it with a BIOS above, but this will still violate your warranty and could yet still brick your card.
The risk is not worth $650 in my opinion, but it's your card.

Just use MSI afterburner or precision X (I tend to favor afterburner - less crashing) and just OC the card yourself. Much less hassle and won't void the warranty.

The sc is not clocked much higher so just adding the offset to afterburner or similar programs is the best bet like people have already stated. Afterburner should not have a large overhead on a modern system.

julizs Flashing another bios does not void warranty per se. You just have to flash the original bios back on your card before an rma. source: http://www.hardwareluxx.d...ios-flash-1058747.html (germany's support manager)
That is true, but if you flash it incoorectly or with a BIOS that doesn't work then you cannot reflash the BIOS which at that point the warranty is gone. So this is a terriable argument... It comes up all the time but it's terribly untrue. Once it's bricked there's nothing you can do and your warranty is gone. $650 down the drain and that's all I'm trying to say. I just don't want to see you brick your card.

but isn't the vanilla acx 2.0 and the sc bios almost exactly the same except boost clocks? also, if you flash a faulty bios, normally you can just overflash it if you have an iGpu, right?

As long as the card is detected by nvflash you can reflash it using another video card or the igpu. If the card isn't detected by nvflash you're sol.

Can anyone provide a stock 980ti acx 2.0 bios? I tried to flash mine back with the techpowerup one but somehow it doesn't work, only the sc works.

Thanks, cool. Now the Acx 2.0 bios from techpowerup worked, but in precisionX it still says "SC", and my boost clock is still higher than what it shipped...somehow I doubt this is a stock bios.
