Hello everyone, just an issue with one of my classified 980's. My first classy (2988) works like a charm, I can over boost the card and add +87 voltage when needed. My second classy (3988) does some weird things where if I over boost the card, the temperature increases dramatically and the voltage goes from 1.4-1.6 volts. When over-volting as a well, it only can add +37. My first card has non of these issues. Any help would be great

May be a false voltage reading. How hot of a temp increase are we talking about? You may want to think about buying an evga probe it connector to check your voltages more accurately by using a digital multimeter.

Thanks for the reply, the temps go from 45 up to about 70 degrees Celsius. Just not sure why my other card is not experiencing this issue. Is it normal?

Did it again. Temps got to 70 degrees on 1200 over boost = 1.5 volts in precision. Dont understand why my other card does not suffer from the same issue.

My 980's do the same thing with Overboost enabled. I thought it was normal. I don't enable overboost because of the same issue.

If there's a defect with the card and it doesn't work right with your other you can RMA it. It's my understanding EVGA will RMA cards that don't overclock correctly.

70C isn't very hot. Max temp for a 980 is 98C. Did you get the 70C reading just idling on the desktop or while running a game/benchmark? If while running a game/benchmark it's perfectly normal.

Not good at all. What is the normal temp of the card without overboost enabled?

Like normal temps compared to my other Classified, its just weird that on idle applying overboost the card shoots up temp and precision x reads 1.45 volts. Would flashing a new bios help?

Yes, it could help if the vBIOS is setup correctly.
