Winvert you should turn that thing into a rally car. That would be sick if you do! But I just would hate the fact in getting that pretty thing dirty LOL. No disrespect brotha but that car is just to weak to be a dragster. I am sure its obvious of that. But dont get me wrong you have a fast car and of course you can always drag people thats on your level. Catch my drift?

Too much work imo to get 600 hp out of that engine. I would have rather gone with an evo, or some other sedan/wagon that can produce more power and have more top end than a WRX

well stig, bring your ride and we will race.

Didnt mean to come off rude or anything, I just meant that as far as platforms go there are others that will produce that power without replacing more or less every part on the car.

to kill 2 birds with the same answer. I wasn't worried about Hp #'s. I wanted an sti for what it is, a awd turbo car that's fun to throw around an autoX coarse. I would have built a 69 nova ls9 if I wanted an drag/hp car and I still just might this year. the only reason I take the STI to the drag strip is to have fun when friends go. there is a autoX and rally club local here so i'll be doing that this summer with a few friends and the wife will drive when im to sick from my chemo. as it sits now its just sleeper enough that older muscle car people have no idea what it is and the kids that do don't even try.

Its that the oil filter in the middle of header [left circle}? Interesting headers. It looks like the intake ports are Siamese , are the factory heads the same? Looks like a lot of work and fun!    

yeah that's the oil filter. the headers are alittle funky because they are equal length, they are not true Siamese but they are offset in the head on both intake and exhaust side so they are close together. that's boxer engines for ya



 
I'm going today to pick it up from the dyno shop so i'll have some video from the 2hr trip home. i'll post it when I get back tonight.

Yes you do. By then, I may have a fun little car by my standards(going to test drive a Genesis Coupe turbo this weekend).

BTW, the one you test drove a couple years ago was a 210bhp turbo version. The motor was re-done in 2013 to 274bhp at 6,000 rpm and 275 lb-ft of torque at 2000rpm. The motors are so different now, you can not compare them.

274HP would definitely have woken the Gen Coupe up. Glad to hear they listened to the feedback.
 
The only other thing I didn't like about the car was that the manual gearbox was very vague and didn't have much feel to it. Hopefully they addressed that too.

I would be getting an automatic anyways, as I do not like manuals(personal preference).

Then you'd be getting bashed on by everyone... "Oh boy what a terrible waste of money, you should have got the manual"

MBP is a sexy beast. Anytime you want to visit we will go racing. I've got to get down to hang with you and sinned this summer(and maybe a few others that are in that area).

But hell yeah man, we need to go racing together sometime.  Both of us have AWD turbo'd cars meant for off road, would be awesome to just go rally racing.  And of course I would be racing with you, not against you since I know that would be pointless lol.

My job right now has me driving all across Texas, so driving up there won't be anything for me.

Pretty sure he said the motor can handle 600hp but he is using smaller injectors and less boost which keeps the power down at the moment.

Its not all about big HP! As wrinvert said. Its alot of balance and extra work and done right!
 
300lbs/300-400HP is more than enough for a 3000lbs daily street car!
