My block and backplate arrived today. Nice packaging by EK. Kinda felt like real high end chocolates. ;) Wish the backplate fit in the little recess of the blocks box, would have been a nice touch. Still waiting on my custom wire set.

To elaborate, holy crap that's awesome, the blue theme is magnificent. I'll be doing an orange/red/black Halloweeny thing. Will not be nearly as high end, spray painted my Grainger spring clips tonight. :P

Tihomir111 u can fit 1070 ftw back plate, just use pvc washers between board and back plate and screws from EKWB
Someone try this with a 1080 FTW? I really don't want to buy the EKWB backplate because the factory one of EVGA is really nice.

So im gonna buy the EK block myself when i have the money for it. But I do like EVGA's backplate. Will I be able to use the stock backplate or do I need to buy an EK backplate aswell or run without a backplate if i dont buy the EK one? /Balubish Edit: Well EK says it doesnt fit with their waterblock. They should sell it as a package deal then when stock has backplate but stock doesnt fit with the block. :S

Just if someone ask again, the EVGA factory backplate is fully compatible with the EKWB FTW waterblock. EK just simply lie to sell their backplates. I put my backplate on the WB yesterday without any problem. All works perfectly fine.

i'd like to see some pictures how you manged that Dkaf91 with all screw holes attached and the block itself a mounted!! EK blocks for 1080FTW(Part Number: 08G-P4-6286) search 3831109831762 scan.co.uk have them in stock amazon.co.uk have them in stock kikatek.com have them in stock they also have proper back plates in stock these should be used full stop with the blocks. the FTW original plates would NOT have the right holes in the block to match, you could always use hot glue is you feel adventurous(don't) lol

There is one screw hole that isnt perfect from what I understand. Aside from mounting I say the EVGA model isn't compatible, only because the EK unit is superior. The EVGA unit is pretty, thin and nearly useless without the pad modification. The EK unit is thick, robust and is an active part of the cooling solution from day one.

+1 fully agree with you stance on the matter. you water block a card for aesthetic value just as much as performance, metal doesn't stretch to well and it's a real mess with a hole without a screw in it or a half in tilted screw i ordered a silver backplate to show off my memory and card together, they will look the bees knees, yes more expense but the plates are only £15-20ukpounds if your going to block a card do it right the first time around you'll not regret it :D

All screw are perfectly fine. And just because a backplate is less efficient in term of cooling doesn't meaning that it's not compatible.

Sorry no. The card is mounted and the loop is filled. You'll see nothing on the picture. But EK use the existant whole present in the card. So I don't see how a whole can be different with EK block. You just need to use EK's screw instead of EVGA. I have no interest to lie. Just some people love the EVGA backplate. Even if it's nearly useless without a thermal pad.

get a torch easy as, you can't make the statement and then when challenged not be able to back up what your saying, my ek block is processing atm, i'll cancel my silver backplate just now and if the EVGA one does it without any issues i will humble myself at your feet, and if it doesn't prepare yourself for a good tongue lashing :D P.S i think the EVGA back plate is great and i really like it but........
