Stupid question.. is the 1080 FTW hybrid the same exact card as the 1080 FTW??? Same board layout? Just wondering as i'd love a full face water block over the hybrid.

Got the card about a week ago. Ordered the waterblocks last night (Swedish time).

I have a custom loop setup, but I don't think it's worth spending $170 to watercool this card without custom bios (really need the backplate for heavy waterblocks).  All this would likely enable me to do is keep the card at 1075 Mhz core instead of it lowering to 1050 core when it gets hot 50+ C.  I assume all the LED lighting stuff is in the actual fan so you'd lose that functionally, and would the EVGA HB SLI bridge work with this water block (the website mentions it working with Nvidia HB bridge)?  Right now I have a single FTW card, it would make much more sense to water cool if I ever went SLI again or if we could easily load custom Bios to push more power through the card.

People need to actually look at the Nvidia HB bridge.

See how it has those giant arrows that run well past where the typical waterblock terminal is?



No other bridge does that. That is why ek mentions that the hb bridge has compatibility issues. Other bridges do not have this issue. The evga bridge is straight down and has always worked.

Mine shipped out today and is scheduled to arrive on Monday; although I probably won't have time to install and redo the hard tubing until next weekend. 
 

Mine said estimated ship date of 14th and it has shown processing since Sep 5th when I pre-ordered it. :-(

When date did you order yours? I finally heard back from the shipping dept and they claim to be out of the backplate and they are due in Friday and my order will ship then so they claim. The store shows Limited Quantity. So I'm not buying the they don't have any. I had my order in days before Performance-PCS yet theirs is shipped and they should receive it by mon-tue. Not really happy with this paper launch from EK. I think this is my one and only time dealing with them directly. Paid a premium and increased the shipping to get a product here by a certain date and guess what nadda.

Hmmm told them how I didn't like the way my order was being treated and somehow I have my shipment on it's way to me 3 days earlier. I should have complained earlier I would probably have it by now. It's not right for pre-orders to be passed up for live orders. The term is after all "PRE-ORDER"! Scenario was going right along with the FE paper launch though I mean! LOL

I ordered it within an hour of the pre-orders going live about 3 weeks ago and I paid the premium for UPS shipping.

I was hesitant to order directly from ek and there were a few things that bothered me about the process. For instance the website said pre-orders would ship on the 15th, while the order confirmation email said it would arrive by the 13th, and then I didn't get a tracking number until the 17th. Also on the 15th I received 13 emails within a span of about 5min that the blocks and back plates were in stock. Nothing serious but the lack of consistency didn't inspire confidence.

The reason I did go directly to ek this time was because I didn't want to risk ppc selling out before I could get my hands on one.

Despite the hiccups in the order process I'm glad I did order from them directly. And I'm still a bit amazed that UPS got the package to me on the east coast from the other side of the world faster than when I get packages from Newegg.

Yea it took a day for it to leave EK and hit PA. I should have mine tomorrow. Pretty funny though how they claimed to be oos on the backplate all while the shop still showed limited quantity available. So yea I called BS on that one and the support lady felt the same with me and I had a shipment notification after that conversation. I had the same shipping this date but this said that date bit you had also. Pretty inconsistent if you ask me. I think since I'm picking up the extended 7 year warranty on my card for a total of 10 years I'll be on this gpu for quite some time and if it does give the cake EVGA will more then likely upgrade me to the next gen if they no longer have the 1080 FTW down the line. At that point and time I believe I'll keep my ordering to the states and just hold out for stock here.
 
First experience with EK direct and it hasn't been all too great either. First impressions are everything and well.....

BLAH!

Hit the lotto for a few bucks (missed a 100K by an 11 not being a 23), grabbed a few prepaid visa as is my norm for internet vendors.

Registered the cards, got all my CPU needs from neweggg, fancy fans, copper radiators, connectors, pump and reservoir ... woosh all the order went through a treat.

Registered a 200$ card for EK, was a bit taken back by the shipping, proceeded on sans backplate and card declined.

Screw it, lets try through a third party, link the card to my paypal, looks good, nope, EK declined. :(

Now I know EK will be slow but arrrrrg!

Everything will be here sans the GPU block by Wednesday :( wahh 1st world problems!


I'll have to head out to market first thing this AM and load some "green spot money" straight away onto my paypal and get things moving.

Been there many times over! No matter how prepared you think you'll be with that custom loop you'll end up ordering more fittings!!! :/

I actually ordered one extra and modmymods came up one short, lol, at first I was like haha no problem.  Send it whenever or replace it with another bit.

Then I started counting again, d'oh!

So technically I'm one short.

The GPU block is from Germany so it will hold up the build into October.
