https://overclock3d.net/news/gpu-displays/nvidia-to-launch-their-rtx-5080-before-their-rtx-5090-leaker-suggests/

According to the leaker kopite7kimi, Nvidia may be planning to launch their RTX 5080 graphics card before their next-generation GeForce RTX flagship, the RTX 5090. Nvidia are due to start releasing their RTX 50 series graphics cards in late 2024. These GPUs will arrive with GDDR7 memory support with Nvidia’s new “Blackwell” graphics architecture. With these changes in mind, these new graphics cards from Nvidia should be much more powerful than their RTX 40 series “Ada” based predecessors.

Some recent reports have claimed that Nvidia will only be releasing their RTX 5090 graphics card this year. Kopite7kimi doesn’t believe these rumours. Not only does the leaker believe that Nvidia’s RTX 5080 will be releasing this year, but they believes that it will be releasing before the RTX 5090.

Nvidia has not officially commented on their next-generation GPU release plans. The company has revealed their Blackwell based datacenter GPUs, but they have not revealed any new gaming products. While there are rumours that Nvidia will reveal their RTX 5090 at Computex 2024, we believe that Nvidia will reveal their Blackwell gaming products at a later event.

I think NVIDIA will wait until later in the year to announce next gaming GPU SKUs.

    Do not care in the least. I don't know why anyone should.

    Every consumer should treat NVIDIA like they don't exist for a year or two.  NVIDIA doesn't care about us, why do we give them so much of our attention?

    Every cycle it's the same old thing. 1 company hears this rumor, another predicts that. No one really knows beyond Nvidia if they even know yet at this point. I just sit back and watch the rumor mill in action.

    Lol. One 'leak' says 5080 first and 5090 etc next year, the other 'leak' says the exact opposite. Will one of them be correct? Maybe a paper launch in 2024, but no physical until 2025 is my guess, just to be contrary. ;)

    It probably just means they will release the 5080 at an inflated 5090 price. I completely understand and support why Evga no longer wanted to do business with Nvidia. Once i can no longer source Evga gpu's, I for one will not be purchasing anymore Nvidia products. Their greed is only surpassed by scalpers.

    I didn't think they ever considered the 90 series to be the flagship. They kind of have admitted it's beyond what most gamers can afford and the 3080 and 4080 is considered to them to be the "flagship". I also seem to remember the 3080 and 4080 launching before the 90 in both generations before so it's not that big of a shock.

    The 4090 released Oct 12th 2022, and the 4080 Nov 16th 2022.  The 4090 was also considered the 40xx series flagship model. ->  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_40_series

    From Wikipedia on the 30xx series:

    The GeForce 30 series began shipping on September 17, 2020.[5][6] The initial launch, consisting of the RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090, occurred during the 2020–2023 global chip shortage, resulting in widespread and notable shortages of the series as a whole that lasted from the series' launch until 2022

    The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition was the company's flagship graphics card at the launch of the RTX 30 Series.  Excerp from -> https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3090-founders-edition

    I intend to grab a 5090, just not sure which one. I always knew ASUS had poor after-sale service, but after seeing the recent video from Gamer's Nexus, I'm inclined not to buy an ASUS 5090, even though it is likely to be the better performing card. I may just go for the NVidia vanilla, even though it will be clocked lower, but at least if something goes wrong I'll more likely be covered. Sigh. I wish EVGA were still in the game.

    My post in this thread is my warranty experience with MSI. I was very happy with the service. I might have got lucky, don't know.
