Hey guys!

Have an 11900K on the z590 FTW Board, intermittently on a boot from shutdown state, the warning for the CPU being changed is coming up and forcing me to the BIOS rather than to windows on the NVMe drive I've got.

Anyone else had this occur or have an idea of what I may try? I have a hard time believing it could be CMOS battery as it's intermittent and I've found no other reference online to anyone with this board having the error.

TIA!

I've seen this on other model motherboards when there is insufficient power. What are your system specs?

Have you tried changing your CMOS battery? If the CMOS battery is low or dead, the motherboard may be assuming that something happened, even though it didn’t.

I have not, the z590 being so new of a board I can't imagine the battery being a cause, it's been intermittent at best, but is odd. I've hand build dozens of systems through my years and this is one of the few times a new build had me scratch my head.

Even with the board being new sometimes a battery can just be bad so it’s worth the couple bucks to replace it if the CMOS is not keeping settings. It’s also good to flash the bios with the newest one but I think the fix was mostly for the 10850 CPU. Finally it could be memory timings that might need to be adjusted or overclock for the CPU that isn’t stable and causing the CPU change error to come up. I would set it to the XMS profile instead of automatic for the memory timings. It also could of course be the power supply not giving the board enough juice also but that seems more likely if it wasn’t fully plugged in.

Totally agree. You can also reset the BIOs just to see if there is any funky behavior going on before you re-input your manual settings.
